Air filter box

   hi, there is a small box attached to the standard air filter where the pipe goes in,
   can it be removed and then use a cold air feed to get more air in or is that box needed?

   i was wondering a similar thing to this, if i could fit a bigger scoop and more heat proof air pipe to the standard box with a pannel filter in, thought it might increase bhp slightly for very little money

   so by removing that box i would have two air feeds

   dont think thats quite what i meant, i was going to replace the standard one. brb ima have a quick look under the bonnet see what you mean

   its just underneath where the pipe goes into the air box,
   yh ive replaced the standard pipe with a cold air feed but thought i could get rid of the box cause it doesnt look like its doin anything lol
   
   can anyone help?

   If your talking about like a Air induction kit the whole box is removed

   i mean leave the standard air box on but there is two wholes comin out of the air box one goes to the pipe which goes to the front of the car and the other there is a box attached to it, can this be taken off? then add a cold air feed to get more air in?

   i think the other is for noise reduction. sounds similar to the vts airbox.
