Ceramic coating Dp manifold - yes or no?

  1. #1
Been thinking about doing this for a while, should i get my DP turbo manifold and downpipe ceramic coated in white?

    something like this:

    http://www.zircotec.com/page/-_performance_white/41

This is a pic of my manifold, not sure whether to leave it as it is or get it coated in white, which is meant to limit teperatures by 30%?!

i say got it in white m8, 30% is alot and think how much it will set off your engine bay
  3. #3
Definately sounds like it would be worth it - doesnt it cost like £200+ for a manifold ot be coated?
  4. #4
id go for red cos it looks cool, is this like a insulation thats "bonded" onto it
  5. #5
I'd definatley have it in white !! Looks cool, and I'm sure can only be a good things with regards to performance !!
  6. #6
white without a doubt, and the obvious reducing engine bay temps is a good idea
  7. #7
    do it white..
but make sure you get it done inside and outside.

lets face it matey, with a hot blower in the bay, everything like this will help. lower temps mean more power as you know.

if you only get the outside done it damages the manifold as the heat will stay inside and fracture the metal, if you do get it done get inside and out
  9. #9
that manifold is a work of art

wonder if they ever finished the 306 s16 one they started....

if you can mate get it done in and out.

im looking at having mine done

oh and if your usieng a metal inlet then get aptfe gasket and fit with stainless bolts as this helps aswell

But then what if the inside flakes away and hits your turbine wheel spinning at 100,000rpm?

Is that an externally gated manifold and what turbo are you using?

    Thanks

    Tim.

there is more chance of the manifold doing that if its not done on the inside than the ceramic coating doing it

i agree the coating will be good and can withstand very hight temps
  13. #13
    less heat more power
  14. #14
If you are worried about heat you can also get the turbine housing and down pipe coated.

my manifold, housing downpipe and screamer pipe are being done and the whole exhaust system wrapped

Anti Lag. I was just thinking that had go to result in a huge heat build up
  19. #19
not sure, it will be there but will see how the nitrous works as ALS

    Just phoned them, they charge:

£125 + vat for turbine housing

£45 + Vat per foot for 3" downpipe

£45 + Vat per foot of manifold (quote given when manifold received)

not too bad really, think i will run my setup, see how it goes and if im having overheating problems i'll get it done

definately worth it. Next time mine gets taken aprat im going to get this done! On the dyno i melted dip stick, oil pressure connector and oil level sensor lol. O and melted the cool tape around my boost pipe to.

dean wanna try and find someone to do us a deal.

Im thinking of CC my pugsport exhaust manifold
  23. #23
I would be interested in this!!
  24. #24
Ryan i would set one up, but it would be in a few months when im going to get mine done.
  25. #25
i have mine done manifold, turbo down pipe etc...

still gets stupidly hot and needs wrapping so i wish i hadnt spent the 350 quid on the ceramic coating and had spent 100 quid on exhaust wrap to start with

    waste of money imo

    wow thats 1 crazy manifold!
