People with uprated top and lower engine mount

  1. #1
    Morning All,

Looking to here from people who have both mount done on there Saxo.

I no replacing the lower engine mount, with the uprated Powerflex one, gives off a little vibration. What i want to know is, if you have replaced the top engine mount with a Group N one and did it elimate all the vibrating altogether, or did it make it worse.

Is it worth having the combation of 2, or just one of them?

    Thanks

eliminated for me and ron, makes car solid, a bit hard if just going to be for road use imo
also run the dreaded risk of snapping the casing off the top of your gearbox, as some members already have done.

So it maybe only worth using the lower engine mount then, which isnt had hard as the top one.

i would just stick with the lower.
the vibrations are only on idle really tbh and its not that bad.

Will Scrap the uprated top one idea then

steve - thought you just had the 2 gearbox mounts?

i use a lower powerflex and it only vibrates the car when its cold and is idleing at just above 1k rpm

when its warm there is no vibrations at all as the car idles under 1k rpm

Makes ya engine feel solid like said. But on the cold start ups the whole dash vibrates LOADS and u can hear it outside the car on mine vibrating, abit like a sub when its up loud vibrating the dash.

Thats with Grp N upper and lower mounts btw, i well reccomend it though!

pretty much the same as jays... I won't be uprating the upper mounts, it vibrates at idle but I'm rarely idling. Either way it's not bother.

But the improvements it offers change the feel of the car considerably...

    mine doesnt rattle at all

Ive got the powerflex lower engine mount and a grp N gearboxmount and I suffer from zero rattles in my car. Adding the grp N actually got rid of some rattles.

because you dont have the ecu mount.
  17. #17
I'm happy with just the Powerflex lower tbh. Get a little vibration through the wheel on idle and a few rattles when pulling away, but that's it.

The engine has bugger all swing with the Powerflex lower fitted so I don't see what advantage the upper gearbox makes.

just over exagerate the upper mounts, imagine the standard upper ones as, a pillow and the uprated grp N's as solid metal, the standard ones will give the engine more freedom to rise etc, when cornering and stuff.

not really feels the same tbh
there isnt a massive difference when the uppers fitted, just something feels different to make you notice its there, cant really describe it.
Only thing with it is i am very causious where i drive especially with pot holes after seeing photos on rallyereg/ssc where the top of the gearbox has ripped off.
