VTS Mk2

First time ever in this section. 5 years down the line.

Picked up VTS on Friday. Paid £900 for it which I thought was a bargain.

    Mk2 Wicked Red
    71k on clock
    6months MOT and Tax.
4 new tyres on Black VTS Alloys
    Smoked headlights
    Lowered 40mm

Right after driving it over weekend I find the engine between 1-2k revs to be really whining. Like an electric engine lol. But once in the 3k it sounds more meaty.

Currently has an open filter which is being removed this week for a Simota enclosed induction. Plus the standard exhaust is coming off for a full cat back system.

Any idea what this whining noise is?

    Maybe alternator whining on?

Have you stuck your head under the bonnet to see if you can work out where the noise is coming from.

Daft question but can you hear it outside of the car or in it, or both

    Could be the induction kit.

btw you fail at life, down grading from an EP3 to a Saxo is just wrong.

Gone in for service today anyways to give it a good once over.

ABS Light has also come on. So gonna check all the sensors aswell.

Can hear it inside the car more than outside.

Haha the EP3 had to go, it was costing me an arm and a leg. Plus I never used it. It was sat on driveway 24/7 so cashed in before the Used car prices dropped even more. Got 6.5k for it. So all good.

ssomething sounds strange at that price mate!

    chewy

    Not too fussed.

Was all checked over before buying and all was good. Most saxos on pistonheads are way overpriced anyway.

Check parkers to see that a good condition VTS with 80k on clock sells for £1200 quid not £2500 like most are asking for

Am sure the garage can pick up the fault.. Abs sensors are about £56 quid, but are a bitch to take out.

Sounds like you just got that price in time before crunch...Which is a could price it.

First time you've owned a S aint it Adam?

    Yeh first time mate.

Mainly a run around. But need some poke in it after owning an Type R.
  9. #9
    Am sure you will enjoy it. As much fun as the type R if not more :}

Just you wont be able to say I nearly Vtec'd into a hedge Yo.

Whine is more then likely from the alternator to be honest Adam
