vts gear box

  1. #1
what is the difference beetween vts gearbox to a vtr one?? will it fit on the vtr??
  2. #2
they fit, final drives are different in them.

all saxo MA gearbox's are interchange able between the saxo TU engines.
  3. #3
so it would be beter getting a vts one

You don't really want a VTS box on a VTR mate. Generally when you drop down a model (for the gearbox) they are slightly quicker in acceleration than the next model up (when fitted to the higher spec car). So putting the model up box on will bog the car down (as the model up puts more power through the box)

EG a VTR Box on a VTS will accelerate slightly quicker
A 1.4 box on a vtr will accelerate slightly quicker.
A VTS box on a VTR will accelerate slower than a VTR Box
A VTR Box on a 1.1 will accelerate slower than a 1.1 box

    ... and so on...

I'm led to believe the S1 Rallye box is by far the best to use, not sure on how easy it is to obtain one though.

    Hope this helps mate.

ye a see how that can work cheerz for that

nah mate vtr box has longer ratios than vts so will increase acceleration but reduce top speed

Stick with your vtr box bud..........

A Vts box will have quicker acceleration than a vtr box, it's due to the final drives, vtr/s have the same ratios but with a different fd!

    Wrong again!

The s1 box has the highest final drive hence it's quick acceleration and low top speed, whereas the vtr box has a low final drive hence

Vtr box on a Vts engine will make it accelerate slower
Vts box on a vtr engine will make it accelerate quicker

Also want to try and bear in mind where the engine produces most power as to what box you go for. Vtr and Vts engines produce their power at slightly different rpm's

thats what i thought cheers for that

    vts box is shorter
    so better off the mark
its a good mod to do tbh as its not a really short box so is still ok on the motorway

Not true dude. Vtr box on a vts will decrease the acceleration. Do a search about theres loads of threads on it. A vts box on a vtr will make it accelerate faster but ruin mpg as the vtr box has a long final drive

thats what I ment to say just couldn't find the words

i fitted a vts box to my old 90bhp vtr. managed about 25mph in first 45mph in second so much shorter ratios than the vtr box. i had it at 8.9 0-60 with an magnex and air filter plus no rear seats. i'd say alot of the diff was to do wit the box. you'll run out of revs at about 120mph tho. the vtr box is good for 150+
