Max RPM?????????

   Was just wondering what sort of maximium rpm people were getting mines maxing out at lates 7000's. Anyone in the 8 or even 9 thousand rpm range????
   and how do i increase the rpm (e.g things like lightneing the flywheel will that rev the engine quicker???) etc. For example the more mods you do the higher the rpm???? please help would like mine reving in the 8000's

   ecu determines the rpm limit. you cant 'remove' the limiter.
   you need a map to keep it reving, if its only mapped to 8k then how can your engine work past this point?

   my limit is 8500 atm, but i never take it anywhere near that.
   
   you can buy the chip off ebay but ill be dammned if i know anyone who can solder that well

   what cams you got in? got some ARP rod bolts and stronger valve springs?

   ok cheers guys so i just raise the limiter on the ECU? Well that alright coz ive just got a full exhaust system, cams and mani all going in soon aswell as ECU re-map so ill raise up to 8oooish rpm

   Newman PH3 cams and will be getting ARP bolts, sounds like ill should get some valve springs 2...er...wich ones?

   you cant raise it yourself. it'll get done when it gets mapped, depending on cams. 7.8k for most 'fast road' cams.

    you wont need ARPs or to be revving to 8k for PH3s, 7.8k will do and standard internals will be fine. mine see's 7.8k nearly everyday on standard springs and rod bolts and never had any problems.

    are the rpm limits the same with 8v engines? so when i get my catcam fast road com mapped what will the limiter roughly be raised to?

    vtr is abit lower, my vts did rev to 8.2k with ph4 newmans, bodies usual mods. Was too scared to going that high as was still running standard internals

    badboy, the cam will determine where you rev too. theres no point raising it if theres no power there

    who cares just go out and boot it if you hit the limiter change gear or slow down

    no, dont, cos if you do that too much then you fuck the engine, or risk breaking sumthing

    Not worth to run 8500rpm if there is not enough fuel. You can broke the engine becouse the mix air&fuel is no good. My friend have Pug 106Gti and he runs 8500rpm, he broke the engine about 500km. If you like to run 8000rpm or more you must have more fuel than standard, becouse if there is no enough fuel, engine will be warm and he will broke down.

    Hitting the lomiter WONT damage the engine, its there to stop damage. unless you stay on the limiter for a long ammount of time then yeah that may cause some damage, but a brief hit of the limiter isnt bad at all.

    6200 (6250 to be pedantic) on the 8vs. Except Rallyes, which are 7200 same as 16v.
    
    Usually limit is lifted to 7200, I believe.
