what sort of setup would you want for rallycoss and how would it differ from a track setup?

i'm going to be building a car later this year for use in motorsport. i would like to have a go at rallycross as well as track days and hill climbs.

i'm thinking about using GAZ coilovers at the moment so i will have fully adjustable suspension.

the suspension setup will be a compromise to cope with the dirt and tarmac section.

You want to run too low and stiff

    what about tyres?

i was planning on r888's for track/hill climbs etc

what would i use for rallycross?

probally going to be something like a set of very open wets or possibly a gravelstyle tyre on a wet day and an intermediate on a dry day might be ok on tightly packed dirt.

Huge selection of tyres required for ralycross due to the different types of sufrace and weather conditions!

tyre cutter will be your best friend!

i wasnt looking at doing a series, not yet anyway.

some places such as lyddenhill do track days.

initially it would just be a one off to see what i enjoyed most.

would a road tyre be ok just for a track day?

the track day at lydden isnt a rallycross day though.

its on the normal track, the rallycross track includes dirt sections aswell.

ah right, is there anywhere that does do a rallycross day?

not unless you can find a test day and not a track/arrive and drive day.

check the british rallycross site as they might be able to give the most info.

hi mate it toltaly depends what class your going to be doin in rallycross. if its stock hatch i think they are on a controled tyer but iff you thinking about the higher classes then i think its anything goes but most of them go for a very soft compound as tyer warmers have been banned and the races are only 3-4 laps. as for suspention againg in stock hatch i think you are quite limeted on what you can do but in the higher classes anything goes. have a lok on the BRDA website for rules and regs http://www.rallycrossuk.com/index.php
also go along to a cupple of meets hand have a look at what people are running.
be prepared to spend alot of money lol

    hope that helps
