#2Did I put the lower mount on upside down ?! SorryQuote:Got the 16v conversionpretty much done now. The car started!!! But its sat on the lower mount wrong so the exhaust and gearing doesnt work as it should. But it works. Hurray!!! Im happy as a pig in shit!!
I put it on the right way, then it didn't look right from underneath, so I switched it round - must have been because the crane still had the weight of some of the engine. Is that why the strut wouldn't go onto the strut ?
It run okay? You going to get it onto the road today ? -
#3lol Good for you pal nice1
-
#4Also, what did you do with those 2 ring nut connectors up my the main fusebox? Leave them disconnected?
-
#5Oh right. Ill try that then mate. It will be ok to whack it on the jack for 10mins while i do it yeer? Nah gave up for today cos i thought i would need a crane. I cant get the crane now thenQuote:Did I put the lower mount on upside down ?! Sorry

. I think thats why the strut wouldnt go on lol .

#6Yeh will be fine. If you put the engine up on the jack, then take the mount off; might need someone to just tilt the engine so that you can get the mount back on the right way.Quote:Oh right. The engine will move a little, but shouldn't go anywhere. Have heard of people changing the lower mount without anything supporting the engine from beneath, the jack is there to just support it a little and take some of the weight off the 2 upper mounts.
Sorry again for putting it on upside down, would have had the car started much earlier without me being a muppet!! When I put the mount on, it went on really easily upside down. Glad you've got it sorted now !

#7Quality bud, well done. Hope to see you about now then
-
#8congrats man, how long did it take? any advice if i go ahead and do it? how much has it cost you in total?
-
#9They have to be connected or the fuel pump wont work, as i found out earlier lol. There is a small black flap on the fuse box, you lift that and they go under thereQuote:Also, what did you do with those 2 ring nut connectors up my the main fusebox? Leave them disconnected?

#10It has taken two weeks but only because people have offered to help and havent turned up. I reckon if you have everything you need, and someone who has a good idea of what at to do, in and out two days no problems. But atm its far too wet and cold. Its cost maybe £350 for everything, but i havent got a VTS box. But not too bad imo....1 user thanked this post:

#15I got the engine out with a mate, then the loom and engine was put in by a legend called Ross (raunchz) look up, the kid with the 16v westie. Then everything else ive done myself. Ball joints, wishbones, driveshafts the lot. There is a lot. But i reckon i could do it again now i know what to do. So if your thinking bout doin it, let me know. Ill let you know what you need and stuff and will also give you a hand. But imo Ross up the top there would be handy to have about, although he does cost £120 but it is worth it.
