Engine Management with Turbocharging

Been speaking to cituning earlier this week about setting up a turbo configuration. I'm getting a tad concerned as they say with their low boost set up they don't require any ecu modifications. I thought any turbo conversions you would require an aftermarket ecu.

Can any one shed any light on this?

To be honest, i wouldn't go anywhere near cituning! Just my personal opinion!

I'd get in touch with john @ GMC, cituning's prices are way too high, and their customer service is shockingly bad!!

Just what i thought this is the response a few days i got from them

    Quote:
    Hi

Anything over 12psi boost needs a different management system. Our turbo
kits have been designed to run at low boost and at 5psi or below. Even cars
that have undertaken massive modifications with us i.e. 1.8 conversion with
stage 3 turbo kit is running at 12psi and is still using the standard ECU
and is a very reliable engine.

You are looking at about 9psi-10psi will give up to 200bhp - depending on
the condition of the engine. This will cost around £5000 fitted and set-up.
You should also consider clutch and brake options with this sort of power.

    Kind Regards,
    Sarah
    Cituning
Pricing is crazy, was looking at either KMS or VEMs i read sofia's post about the dastek but i can never seem to get hold of them to find out more

That response made me laugh - especially the part about 1.8 stroker saxo's running on standard management!!

When i ordered wossner pistons and rods from them they stated they would take 2 weeks to come, 2 months later i was still waiting!!!!

The customer service was shit, and if they cant order parts correctly then i wouldn't let them go anywhere near a car!!!

    I'd stay clear tbh!

\so what would you reccomend for management, KMS vems or omex?
  6. #6
Are you 1 plug or 3 plug vts??
  7. #7
Not quite sure, haven't looked tbh, its a mk1 vts if that helps
  8. #8
If its a mk1 vts, then you'll have a 1 plug ecu!! Thats good news!!

    Look here: http://www.saxperience.com/forum/sho...d.php?t=184428

This is a bargain for around £550 you wont find anything better!!

If you've got any queries, then give andy a pm - he's very helpful!!

As said, that is a 1 plug ecu, a fair few users are using the predator now i think with good results, not sure if its running any boosted motors, but im sure its more than capable - especially when used with the wideband lambda!!

I'd definatley go for one if there was one available for the 3 plug vtr

I'll drop them a PM see what they have to say

Do it once do it properly if going the charged route!

Sack of cituning and go to somewhere like dp engineering!

AS for management, omex are good, currently a group buy on 106 owners for them (cheap!), Personally not seen a predator ecu but im sure many users on here can say good things about them, so these are 2 possibilities.

    Hi there!

    been PM'ing the thread starter

The Predator would drop in thereno problem, and wouldbe plug and play with the wiring loom. Would need the MAP sensor fitting inside, but that's no drama, and it's a fair bit more work to get it mapped up so unfortunately not the £550 price quoted above, would be a little more than that - but still no hassle to fit, and obviously infinitely remappable!

    Kind regards
    Andy
