Flushing The Engine / Radiator

  1. #1
Tomorrow if the weather is good i am going to flush my saxo's engine and radiator. I have looked at the guide on here and it recommends a header tank, i don't have one of these..could i still do the flush without one making sure i get all the air out using the bleeding valves?

Also what mixture of antifreeze/water should i use, think i read somewhere it holds 6 liters? so 3 of each i'm guessing?

    Cheers guys

Get an empty 2 litre pop bottle, cut the bottom off and sellotape it on instead of using a header tank.

The coolant bottle should tell you want dilution to use.

Oh right, you mean cellotape the bottle to the expansion tank so it stays there?

Also still confused on how much antifreeze to put in, Haynes manual states the capacitie of the coolant system is 6.1 litres, so half of that antifreeze?

    Cheers

i usually mix it 50:50 for winter and about 40:60 in summer as a ratio of antifreeze:water
