Important! : saxo VTR to 106 GTi finishing touches

  1. #1
    hi guys,

so i have finished with what was the biggest headache i have ever had, i put my 106 GTi engine into my Saxo VTR. tht was a pain but put a big smile on my face when she finally started to tick over properly!

the next thing i want to do is get most of the "other" parts done, i'm looking at doing the following and any comments would be great:

    1) APEX Sports Suspension 20mm lowring
    2) Piper Manifold
    3) Full Stainless Piper System
    4) uprated disks and pads, leaving the calipers the same (VTR type for the mo)
    5) Enclolsed induction kit
    6) quick shift gear linkages
    7) Engine mounts

now any advice on the parts to get or even in particular what to aviod would be nice, points 1, 2 and 3 i feel ok with points 4 and 5 not really sure which supllier is the best?

points 6 and 7 i feel i cant really go far wrong if i get some standard parts?

    thanks in advance

    David

In my opinion i would use these parts:

    4. Discs and Pads

    5. Eclosed Green filter

    6. Quickshift and gear linkages

    7. Engine mounts

thanks for the very promt reply,

i have printed the info off and i will take it to my dads work and see if i can get these parts through the verious dealerships at up to a 30% discount.

if not the i'll just hav to pay the full wack!!

so the manifold, exhaust and suspension are ok to go with then?

    thanks again

that sounds good for the quickshift

so if they are not ur personal choice what would you go with for the manifold and exhaust?

so far the piper system looks good, piper hav a gd rep but big down side the huge investment for the goods!

My persoanl choice, would be either janspeed or supersprint manifold, even though theyre different types, and a janspeed exhaust, as i love the sound of them!

will they engine mounts fit a phase 1 vts ?

ok..... so i now have a small problem in deciding the exhaust and manifold.

i spoke with Janspeed this week, explained the sound i wanted and the guy told me which exhaust to go with. i then passed the info on to the machanic (which is my dad, and hes a bit oldskool) he didnt seem to impressed and advised me to get a Piper system.

so guys - Janspeed & Supersprint system Vs a full Piper system?

its going to cost about £500 so i need to get it right cos i dnt wana hav to go investing further if i get it wrong lol!

When you order from there, ask for the S2 106 kit that fits the saxo

Really is down to your persoanl opinion on this one mate. If you make another thread and ask, everyone will probabaly say the piper set up!

Have a search on the forums, theres a few threads with videos of different exhausts, and search on youtube
