Need advice Saxo VTS V reg rear trailing arm

  1. #1
My son's O/S wheel was leaning in, and he has been driving like this for about two weeks, Our Older soon is a mechanic (volvo) and said If he can get one from a scrap yard he may be able to sort it, he got it at the garage now and took the rear axle off as far as I know as said the rear arms knackered

I have had no look for a rear arm at scrap yards, the only had one with drum brake not disk
I have seen whole axles on ebay second hand and recon, or ebay members that will recon your own but will take about 7 days but reading this site I am unsure if his axle will be any good driving on it for 2 weeks

Can anyone give us advice on the best way to go
There pretty expensive on ebay and I dare say I got to pay for it
does anyone know a resonable place to get the recon complete rear axle

    Thanks for any advice

this is a very common problem with saxos, depending how bad the camber is of the wheel the axle could be fixed by simply swapping the bearings.

However if the Stub pins are worn then the axle would definatly need replacing. Hit the search button on the top toolbar and there will be lots of people talking about getting axles re-furbished etc. I believe a recon axle costs around £250.

    Hope this helps you.

Buy the drum braked one at scrappy and change the brakes over.

    as it cost £85.00)

    Thanks for the advice
I contacted a guy in coventry who rebuilds them
so gone with that, will cost me £290.00 and I will collect it's soon as it made
but have to leave another £100.00 down, until I return with the old axle
so hopefully I can get it sorted fast my son, will have his car on the road and the other son will have the car out from his garage.

you can use the drum beam. put your trailing arms etc on with new bearings.
