Does the gearbox from a 306 gti6 fit onto a saxo vts? would be great to have 6 speeds, if not do any 6 speed gear box fit?

#4haha cheers mate, on my interior at the minute, retriming my door cards and getting a dash to spray up. but would LOVE! a 6 speed gear box, my just get one and see what can be done.

#5would like to see it it done, how much you think the gearbox will cost ? might have to have an adaptor plate to make it fit lol
-
#6i ask this a week ago, apparently the box is to big to fit,you have no lock one way and you need custom driveshalfs plus more

#7bloody hell sound like quite a job abd i could get a good secound hand one for 175 quid. there must be a 6 speed gearbox that fits better than that?
-
#8as above
never known it to be fitted to a standard vts lump though only together with the gti6 engine which i seen in a 106
would be different tho -
#9there is no MA 6speed gearbox, unless you buy a sadev or equivelent and have the bellhousing purchased to fit.
the 6 speed box from gti-6 uses different bell housing, shafts etc....
Why else do you think people who have spend thousands on engines dont fit 6speed boxes? -
#10there is.... you buy it from sadev or quaife. it will cost you 40x the amount of said gti-6 box.Quote:bloody hell sound like quite a job abd i could get a good secound hand one for 175 quid. there must be a 6 speed gearbox that fits better than that?
as stated, there is no point and its too much hassle. just get a 5 speed with a nice final drive. -
#11damn you ryan!!
-
#12fail danny
love the sadev i found the other month 5k iirc and that was a 5 speed -
#13yes but top out at about 30mph on standard rev limit lol..

#14having owned a gti-6 6 speed 205 I will hold my hands up and admit it was a bit shit as mods go. Nothing overly wrong, but it was heavy, sucked on right turns and generally seemed pointless when I got the same thrill of acceleration from a modified 5 speed.
It will be crap in a saxo. It may be different and cool but it will still be crap.
