Where do I put this on the brake pads/calipers and do I really need to put it on?
Cheers

put it on the back of the pads. ensuring that non gets on the friction side or on the disk face
yes you do need it really to stop excess noise

as said back of the pad, i also put a little on where the pads slide on the caliper to help them move easier
