De-cat

   I want to get a de- cat for my 2000 mk2 vtr, just wondering which is best value for money, was going to get the supersprint through pipe that goes straight from manifold to back box like baynessy but read on the website that it's for race use only? Daz

   So the supersprint straight through pipe would be exact the same as a de-cat just instead of only bypassing the cat would replace the whole centre section?

   But as far as i know wont be illegal, you will just have to swap it back around for a centre section with a cat in when the MOT comes...

   thats right. The only reason why its not listed as road is because on the VTS and early VTS it decats the car.
   
   On late model VTRs and Furios etc with the cat in the manifold this remains road legal

   to be fair it wouldnt make it illegal, if the cars engine is running right then it has no need for a cat and would pass any emmisions test...therefore doesnt that make it legal? (just a thought)

   So what would be better performance wise and give a better exhaust note the supersprint straight through pipe or would just the de-cat section do the same?

    how much does the straight through pipe cost??? it is illegal to have a car without a cat but no1 will no untill mot time, and ya jus swap it over to your old standard system
    
    is the supersprint your talkin about just go straight from mainifold to back box, like a drain pipe ?????? lol

    The straight through pipe is £66, yeah straight from manifold to back box, does anyone know what difference it would make between straigt though or just de-cat section?

    i dont think it would make any major difference as they are both just removing the restriction of a catalytic converter.

    straight through is louder as it has no mid silencer. Also the mid silencer has a slight restriction on the exhaust so acceleration will be slightly better with straight through.

    mine pulls better and feels smoother with a straight through but all mine has done has replaced the silencer i still hace a cat. decat must be even better?

    yer well as far as i know the cats in both models of car are the same, just in a different place.... so surely it will have the same affect on both?
