Which 30/35/40mm springs?

  1. #1
I'm after some springs to lower my car, being a skint student I don't have enough money for a full kit so they will have to go on with the standard shocks.

Is it going to make much of a difference which springs I go for? Any recommendations? Wanting something that'll make the car better at cornering really but I guess it's the shocks which would make the car better for that..

40mm G-max springs or spax are good bud!! and cheap too,if your on budget.....

Mines dropped 40mm all around with spax springs and adjusted bars to suit. yes cheap. I have VTr alloys-55tires handels spot on. 35-40 is the best handeling for the saxo...go 40

Yeah I've seen the spax used by a few people on here, been looking on the Demon Tweeks website and found:

    Spax ssx (40mm) for £51.74
    Gmax sports (40mm) for £62.43
    Weitec sport (30mm) for £76.34

Any experience of the Weitec anyone?

i was in the same position. after looking around i found out the spring rate of eibach pro's (35mm) is the same as standard so handle well with the standard dampers (if ur on a budget). i went with these springs from larkspeed.com (about £75, expensive but its a gd make) , the car feel pretty much like standard comfort wise. i can take corners a little faster too

    we like the Eibach here.

Could also look at Apex / KW

i had spax -40mm with standard shocks on an old car (bought and sold it with them on) and it handled brilliantly, looked just about right too.

Hey guys, I bust a spring yesterday (standard spring) its currently in the garage being repaired. Now that I think about it though, do you think I should have just had lowering springs fitted instead? Hes charging me 45 quid each spring, for standard ones and an hours labour (£170 altogether)?? Does that seem right?
Yet on searches I've done people seem to be getting new lowering springs and the car lowered for like £125?? Any thoughts would be great, maybe I could cancel the work...

well if ur getting lowered, u may aswell buy lowering springs to fit

If my standard springs had snapped I'd be buying in something a little better. Its the perfect excuse for an upgrade. I lowered my BMW on Bilstein as two standard dampers were knackered.

whts the most comfortable ride aftermarket spring set?
  15. #15
    The higher quality ones.
I used to run coilovers with eibach 280lb springs on the road without problem but they were their ERS race springs.

Off the shelf springs - if on a budget i'd go apex, but I really like the Eibach pro-kit and sportline springs. I like H&R too

I find spax springs too hard on standard shocks so the ride suffers - really need their shocks to match

Weitec are the budget brand of KW, so will be a good mid range spring..

i've heard good things from eibach ones. how much can you get the -30's for ?

i looked around most places on the internet for the eibach pro's, al roughly the same price, i think larkspeed.com was the cheapest , about £80 delivered
