Door card retrim/paint CREASES!!

  1. #1
Hi been trying to retrim my doorcards got them off and stuff with ease. But its the retrimming its a nightmaree!! had 3 goes third time looked good but up lcose it had awful creases

am using some faux suede like most others av seen now is there a special way to put it on and not get creases? av even tried a small roller but i just keep going wrong.

Using some loctite spray glue to fix it on. Av taken off the orangy stuff now too and al give it another go but hmm keep thinking it will go wrong

is it possible to just paint them? like some filler them primer then paint.. ?

    thanks for any help

    lol, nice plug there.

have you stripped your door cards down and cut the material to slightly bigger than the part your covering?

if so then its not that hard to do, however its easier with two hands

apparently the spray glue isnt as gd as the fabric glue you apply with a brush

spray glue will come un-stuck in the summer when the weather warms up.

you need strong upholstery glue otherwise you will end up re-doing them (if you ever get them done in the first place)

hmm i think you have a point that glue is shit tbh i shall go out and find some better glue and re try

You need decent glue as said as where its pulled tight it will com away eventually

i used faux suede on mine and tbh took me and me dad to do it tpo get it right and even then i had a few creases in it, did eventually get it right after much taking away material and respraying glue as it goes off quick

Sorry for another post in an old-ish thread but no point making new ones.

My mates mum is a dress maker and she said she'll re-trim my car / panels etc if I buy the material.

I see you all mentioned using fabric glue to hold it onto the panels, would a staple gun not be just as good or am I just being numb here?

would that not become tricky with the curves of the doorcards

and will look shite when u can see the staples imo

Not if you staple it from the back of the cards and providing the material is thick enough it won't penetrate through the visable side of the fabric.

I'll speak to her mam when I give her the door panels and see what she recommends.
