#2You can get a multi layer metal head gasket from someone like dp,
-
#3how much pricewise average do they go for mate...an whats dp?

#4You don't need an uprated one, it's common practice to fit a slightly thicker one if you've had the head skimmed to equallise the Compression ratio.
But, are you saying this has already been done once and you're considering getting another gasket fitted? Because if the car is driving fine and not pinking its tit's off then really I'd just leave it.
Or if you're saying you need to get it changed as it's gone, then you need to find out how much it was skimmed and go from there, as there are different thickness gaskets which can be identified by the notches on the edge of the gasket itself.
Is it a VTR though? Can't be sure on the 98bhp ones, but the 90bhp's are a low comp engine anyway and I doubt a skim would make any difference. The timing's electronically controlled anyway so it should be fine. -
#5its a 98bhp later model basically the head went on him and he replaced it with a standard thickness gasket but had it skimmed the car doesnt feel right powerwise i got a lot of oil comin out of the oil breather which suggests higher compression i want to get the compression back to what it should be was hopin a thicker gasket would cure the problem what you think??

#6Yeah if it's been skimmed and a standard gasket used then a thicker gasket would address the problem, but you'd need to know how much of a skim it had to know which thickness gasket you need.
I might be missing something, but I can't work out how having a high comp engine makes oil piss out the breathers either? That would indicate a blocked breather somewhere to me, possibly full of gunk from the head going previously (assuming it overheated?)
Does it pink at all under load? -
#7what do you mean pink under load.....?

#8higher compression means more power so its not a problem as long as the valves have enough clearance its not the gasket that is the issue.
