#4Just to kind of hijack your thread lol
If i was to smooth the front number plate recess, where would be the best place to then put the number plate?? -
#5Very sure it needs to be central on the car mate, so dont do it, recess looks good unless your going euro
evos are an exception to the side as they coem from factory liek that -
#6i'd like to add that obviously its illegal for it to be in the window but for it to be positioned maybe slightly to the left or right ( like an evo etc ) is ok. what i was wondering is the few people i have seen with subaru's whos not got a number plate but there reg number in sticker form stuck to there front bumper. whats the deal with that?
-
#7You wont get away with it being positioned in the window in any way.
Skorpion i believe got pulled over with it being there and when he went for an MOT he got a line on the red failure sheet stating 'numberplate not securely attached to the vehicle' his was held onto the windscreen by the little suction cups by the passenger sun visor -
#8Sticker must be reflective. iirc they are now technically illegal, but as long as there is a reflective background and the font, size and spacing conforms with the legal requirements, you should get away with using a sticker
-
#9I don't think it's an issue where it is placed. As you say evo's have them, as do the alfa 147. Also i've seen pulsars. Has to be on the left hand side so camera's can see them.
-
#10Also, don't think the plate has to be central on the car, but it must be clearly visible when looking straight at the front of the vehicle, hense why evo's and alfa's have spacers to adjust the angle at whech the plate sits, even though the plate itself if at either side of the bumper

#11I reckon a sticker would be the best solution.

#12Indeedy. Never had any problems from Police with it (Matt I never get pulled)Quote:You wont get away with it being positioned in the window in any way.

Took it for MOT and it was a fail for the numberplate.
I did at one stage make some brackets so you can mount the number plate through the slats on the bumper. as I am pretty sure Ash did. -
#13i believe you can have the number plate anywhere infront of the headlights. it has to be vertical though. it cant be laying down or anything stupid.
personally i wouldnt smooth the number plate recess. it looks odd with the plate anywhere else.
not sure what the law is about using stickers. where would you put the stickers anyway? -
#14Might give you an idea...

#19ive been pulled countless times for plates on my car and bike...
sticker shouldnt be a problem aslong as its reflective... id jsut get a sticker made up, BUT they will pull you for anything these days.
the plate CAN be sat in your front window, depending how cocky you want to be.
i had mine in there for almost a week, got pulled 4 times... you can state that it was riped off or due to an accident within the last 24 hours, and its ok to be there!... but they can log it, and pull u again 24 hours later, if its still there...well tell you to put it back on the front lol.
if you move it, it has to be facing forwaard, no angles or bends in the plate, basically so cameras and thiere little cameras on the cars can read it properally... ive got washers behind mine so my plate aims towads the floor very slightly.
get an import plate and move to to the size of your car like an EVO or the sticker would be would be action to take! just make sure all spacing, letter size and fonts are of legal requirement, they will fuck ou over for anything these days, and its not worth the 30 quid fine over and over again is it?
