F1 style paddle shift???

   Been searching around and fell over this on ebay for 300 smackers, this is there offical website:

   If you scroll down to the 3rd product you notice the paddle gearshift and i was wondering weather this would work for a saxo eventhough its made for race cars? What would it require to set-up to the car? e.g soome sort of ECU mapping or sumthing? i dont know but thought that changing gear with a flick of a paddle would be kinda kool. Would it mean you wouldnt need a gearstick or what?

   I've always wondered about these on normal cars, would be well cool. Imagine it might be a lot of work to do though!

   would be more effective with a quickshift and alloy gear linkages as the delay will be quite long as you probably need a sequential box for it to work.

   Would cost alot of money to have it working more efficiently than normal i'd expect.

   Are there any sequential gearbox currently avalible to fit to a '03 vts engine tho?

   BIC has an awesome box on his 106. Think it cost a fair few thousand though iirc.
   
   Really not worth it though unless you are running silly bhp and want something crazy.

   im not sure, would it b a better investmen (im talking bhp per £) to go for a Golf R32 Engine and DSG 'box, and would that fit? with standalone ecu and the paddle shift?

   Yeah but your talking big moolahhhhh, in excess of £6k iirc. A guy called Bic had/has one on a very high spec 106 GTi, but it's not the sort of thing you can do cheaply. I'd love to have a Seq Gearbox though, would be amazing, well worth the costs if I had the money (and a half decent saxo, not a 1.1 lol)

   That wont fit into a saxo mate, for the money you would spend trying you might as well tune your vts engine.

    the sadev sequential is more lik 10k plus once you have bought the gear lever, shift light, driveshafts, oil cooler etc...
    
    then you have the hewland one wich is around 15k then you have the x trac one wich is around 25k......
    
    so not a cheap game.
    
    
    if you are thinking as big as r32 engine/box transplant then there are far more price effective ways of making your car faster.

    A m8 of mine can sell me an r32 engine and auto/manual dsg 'box for 1500 and another can install it for 500. so for 2k i cant see a saxo with 250 bhp on a highly tuned vts engine/box. Would need forged internals, ITB's and twin tubos etc. would cost much more

    I can't see the 3.2 engine fitting with the gearbox anyway.

    mount in the back? ive striped the interior it could go behind my ear lol but would that require a super strong roll cage/mounts

    Best bet on a budget would be to get a quaife 5 speed dog box and get some sort of H pattern sequential emulator!

    Yeah its a paddle shift contoll, you hook that bit up to your sequential box... which you don't have..

    you DONT need ITBs and twin turbos to see 250bhp out of a saxo thats for sure if thats what you are trying to say.

    i should think if you want somthing like this, you could possibly get the senso drive box, clutch and everything needed form the c2 to have a "rally style shift"

    its funny how all the new guys come to this site and say:

    Then about 1 month later you either see a "ive crashed" thread or them complaining about somthing.
    
    Facts are a R32 engine wil be WAY to heavy for the back of a saxo and it will more than likely handle like crap.
    
    May need a stabaliser on th back to stop the front end lifting.
    
    Unless of corse your going to have it 4wd??? then i would LOVE to see your mate do that for you for £500

    Fact of the matter is, you can see ridiculously quick Saxos on the standard 16v lump, IF you get a very good boost (Turbo/Supercharged) setup with all the necessary work done properly.
    
    Acceleration isn't all about power, its about power to weight, and traction. 350bhp in a Saxo (which is possible, IIRC there is one around that on here) is far superior to a 600bhp Skyline/Evo etc, simply due to the fact power to weight ratio of 350bhp / 800kg (0.8t) gives PTW of 437.5 bhp. 600bhp in a 1500kg (1.5t) Impreza gives PWT of 400bhp, not to mention the handling of a small lightweight compact car over the heavy, tail happy skylines etc.
    
    You simply don't need the 3.2L V6 for a Saxo, the weight of it would make it counter productive, and you can guarentee you will hit every single problem possible at some point during the project, and odds on say it would be an absolutely MASSIVE achievement if you even got it running, let alone moving, and handling even slightly well.
    
    If you don't fancy the work/costs involved with turboing, you could go down the N/A route. Ryan (the mod on here) has a 199.4 iirc? bhp beast of a Saxo, which I can only imagine goes like stink, and I think it's fair to say this is massively more than your average person would be able to handle, and certainly overkill If the car is intended for road use (as I guess you mainly want it for?). So don't let power and massive bhp figures go to your head, in the real world figures are basically just a guideline, and anyone that knows anything about cars will tell you to take power figures etc with a pinch of salt unless the entire car (suspension, chassis, brakes, tyres etc) are to a similar standard.

    you could buy an R32 and spend 5-7 grand tuning it for that sort of money! Ud b better tuning ur vts to be honest, R32 engine weighs the same as a church!
    Those VW DSG boxes arnt cheap either, about 6 grand i think
