Does this mean you've got a Magnex system on your car then? In which case you will have a seperate 'de-cat' pipe just after the manifold if your car is a MK1 VTR. If you have a mk2 VTR then the CAT is in the manifold and you shouldnt have a problem (assuming you've got the standard manifold on).
If you have got a MK1, then just unbolt the decat pipe and bolt a CAT in its place. Same if you have a MK2 with an after market manifold (although you'll need a CAT for a MK1)

Does any of that make sense?

Is it a Mk1 or a Mk2 VTR? And has the engine got a black cam cover, or a silver one?

Look under the car and if it has cat you'll see a littlebox on the section of the exhaust near the engine - that is where the cat will be located as you won't have a cat in the manifold if you've got a 4-2-1 fitted.

i wudent bother with a cat tbh, just take it into the m.o.t and they will fail it first time but then take it bk the next day and they asume that you have dun it so they dont check it

there pleanty of garages that will be bribed into taking a extra 20quid on top of the m.o.t. to put it through anyway mate just be cheeky
