Exhaust System.. What shall I go for?

  1. #1
Sorry if you get these threads often but I have had a search and still have a few questions..

I'm after an exhaust system as that is the next thing on the list to do to the Saxo Left it rather late as wanted looks before performance

Basically, I don't just want a backbox, I want a full system. However, I DO NOT want anything too loud. Yes, I would like it to sound nice at high revs but don't want a headache when driving around town or don't want to piss the neighbours off either!

I really like the look of BTB's and Magnex's but BTB's are rare and Magnex's don't seem to come up that often these days either..

What other alternatives do I have. I really don't want a SuperSprint as the 2 inch tailpipe just isn't for me. Each to their own though

Also, Is it better for me to de-cat? What are the pros and cons? Bearing in mind I have a Furio and not a VTS! Is it worth doing or not? Can it be a pain when MOT time is due?

If anyone can post some links or put me in the right direction to a decent system it would be much appreciated. I've heard piper are good aswell (kamracing.co.uk) but can you mix and match like piper backbox and supersprint centre section etc? Same for magnex? If there was a magnex backbox on here, will a supersprint centre section be ok?

Links to bits and pieces that would make a good full system would be cool

Any help is appreciated as always,
    James.

sportex oval is similar to the BTB. ive got the straight through and its loud when you rev but sitting at 3.5k on the motorway and its pretty quiet, but sounds awesome when im giving it death on the lanes and stuff

Ah, ok cheers mate. Got any links to where you got yours from..?

    I've just spotted this: http://www.kamracing.co.uk/manufactu...100mm-696.html

Looks alot better than the 2" one but wondering whether it would look too big in regards to the exhaust cut out.

Anyone got a pic of one of these fitted?

i got mine from ebay the oval sits perfectly in the gap.

Yes you can have the piper box on the supersprint section mate. I have a Raceland manifold, supersprint race section and a piper 3" box. It isn't loud at all, seriously! Only when you boot it. Comfortable on motorways 2bh. Sounds nice with a burble

Bigger the box the louder it will be. A 4" jap can is what you want, but a stupidly loud exhaust is way over-dated now.

How much did you pay for that Tom?

I'm tempted to get a Supersprint Race Centre section and have heard really good things about the 2" backbox but I'm not sure if I can face having such a small tailpipe!! Why don't they make them in 3"!! The 4" one looks kinda big..

Anyone shed any more light on what both supersprint backboxes sound like when driving normally around town etc with the race centre section.

Would I still get pops if I added a different backbox to the SuperSprint race centre section such as a piper?

    Thanks.

It came on the car but got a receipt fot £280, well worth the oney though mate...rasps pops and flames

Both supersprint back boxes sound quite ish while driving around town but get very loud when you put your foot down...i hated my race system on the motorway

Yes, the exhaust will still pop with the piper back box...they look alot better aswell BUT if you fancy the 2" supersprint FULL system, give me a PM as i have one for sale

Ok mate, cheers for that. I'll bear it in mind as i'm still a bit undecided atm

If the supersprint was 3" I would be going for it straight away but the 2" is holding me back!!

Is it really worth getting the Supersprint "Race" centre section? It doesn't make it too much louder does it, as I don't want to piss the neighbours off lol. It is better for performance though obviously so I am tempted to get it regardless of what backbox I go for..

    Cheers

Howw about a piper cat-back? You can get an oval tail pipe that's looks like a btb, I don't know how loud they are though.
  17. #17

^^ Thats my tail pipe mate...Powerflow

    Video of the 2" supersprint:

Can't see the pics or vids.. At college and they don't display :@

Will have a look when I get home though

Raunchz, when you say cat-back do you mean still get a uprated centre section or not? Do you have any links to oval pipers as the ones on kam's site are just 3" round ones

    Thanks all
  19. #19
Well the piper cat back will come with a silencer in the centre section if I remember.

If you google Saxo piper exhaust you'll find places that sell them. I can't copy links on my iPhone.

I loved my piper 4" back box, was loud but loved the noise! I had it with a supersprint centre section and boxed decat, with 4-1 manifold
  20. #20
    piper is the best
  21. #21
I'd go for the Sportex, Cat back with silencer, Oval tip. Looks good, sounds just right (from what i've heard on videos) and wont break the bank either! Go for CAT back as it saves hassle come MOT time, like you say its only a Furio.
  22. #22
There is so much to choose from and i'm just in a big dilemma lol!

Do I go for a Piper 3" backbox off KamRacing with a Supersprint Race Centre section?
A SuperSprint 4" Magnum Backbox with a Supersprint Race Centre section?
Get a Magnex backbox and again get a Supersprint Race Centre section?

Anyone know what the 4" Supersprint sounds like with the Race centre section? I would just go for the 2" one like most people have but I think it's a bit too small..

    Thanks.

Do I go for a Piper 3" backbox off KamRacing with a Supersprint Race Centre section?

    ^ ^ ^ This set-up would get my vote!

I'm going to be selling a suspersprint centre section, and a boxed de-cat in 3 weeks

Also, anyone know how good "Remus" systems are? Been offered a full system on here..

    Thanks.
  26. #26
remus have a good reputation, i dont have any experience of them on saxo's but i wanted a remus centre section and they appear to have stopped making them
  27. #27
Nothing wrong with the 2 inch tail pipe mate lol. i personally love it, looks dead discreet, most people think its just a stock exhaust untill i boot it, then it unleashes hell. Can be a bit loud on motorway but not overly loud tbh, can still comfortably listen to music or hold a conversation, and mines stripped out. Also you can get the supersprint centre section with a silencer which apparently sound the dogs as well.
  28. #28
i have full remus for sale.

wicked exhaust, really happy with it. sounds great too!!!
  29. #29
i say piper 3inch outwardly rolled with a super sprint centre section
  30. #30
Cheers guys. Think it might be out of the 2" SuperSprint or the 3" Piper

Both with a SuperSprint Race centre section..
