painting the rear drums...

  1. #1
Am wanting to paint the rear drums black as i will be getting alloys soon and hate the rusty look. Never jacked up a car before too afraid of it falling and breaking lol

Would it be okay to just get some new drums and paint them. Is it just a case of taking off the big bolt and changing over dont wanna pay too much at garage? are these the right part? its a 2000 1.1

    tbh it would be easier paint them;

    1. get the tool to undo the bolts (not all the way, common sense tbh)
    2. get jack
    3. place jack under jacking point
    4. jack it up to reasonable height.
    5. undo the bolts fully
    6. remove the wheels.
    7. sand down the rust
    8. paint the rear drums.
    9. let them dry (obviously)
    10. once dry put the wheel back on.

    Hehe

this will sound super noob but where bouts are the jacking points on a 1.1 ?

    The same as most cars.

Just behind the front wheel or just infront of the rear wheel.

    NOT THE FLOOR!

But the seam / sill of the side.

Paint them black so you can't see them. I hate it when people paint drums bright colours as if to say "woah look at me I have DRUMS!!!"

If your going to use a scisscor jack and take drums off i reccomend you invest in some axel stands mate, Scissor jacks arent ment to be used for working on your car there only tempary to put a spare wheel on.

am going to do it on the driveway and its flat (i think ) thinking of a trolly jack no way am gna use that citroen shit. am thinking something like this would be okay Link?

are axel stands essential? i thought u only really needed them when going under the car if i should use them ( prob will for safety) where do you place them ?

am thinking of just sanding and painting them whilst there on the car.

thx for the help so far
