Banded steelies?

  1. #1
Thinking about getting some of these in a couple of months, what do you think or should i just keep my alloys i have now.
how hard it it to make them?
    cheers
  2. #2
    No one?
  3. #3
ull have to pay to get sum one to do it coz it have to be like marked to a standard after the band is welded in
thats for it to pass mot etc....
but yer its a good idea they can look well nice in my opinion!
so id say go for it and make them welllllll wide!
sell alloys maybe a bit of profit!
  4. #4
I think they look good tbh. If you do get them you could get them through www.wide-wheels.co.uk. They look a decent company.
  5. #5
how wide do yourecon i should get? obviously want it to be sensible and not to hard to put tyres on, probobly looking at 15'', do any 15'' tyres fit? what inch of band is agood size?
  6. #6
Depends if your wanting to streetch your tyres or not. Stretch is kind of a must if your wanting some decent width. You could have 8" or even 9" on with stretch.

i want noticeable wide wheels and for themto stick out the arches abit butdont want any macanical problems and for them to be a straight fit, if anyone has any for sale im wiling to swap for my alloys also.
  8. #8
ye 8' wide is good enough i'd say. by ur first post , how hard is it to make em , its best left to the companys to make as they hav to be spot on or there pretty dangerous

banded steelies are the fucking nutz!
around them alot, as my mate owns a vw body shop.

4-5 inch deep are nice! well reccomend them.
    and
wide-wheels are the palce to go.

i dont think anywhere else in the country are legally allowed to band wheels for road use.

    cheers
  25. #25
would not fit without much arche works (lots) and much playing with spacers

    7.5 front (8 at a push maybe) on a 195/45 and 9 rear on a 195/50 safe
  26. #26
9'' rears and 7.5 fronts? would that requir any arch work?

no..... not with a good strech on the tyres at the rear and the right offsets achoired with spacers
  29. #29
guess there my mesurments then, the tyres dont have habits of popping off do they haha? how safe are they?
  30. #30
not really just do not rag it round corners and keep the tyre pressures up(keep checking)
  31. #31
kwl, when you say rag round corners is that taking a corner slightly fast or slaming it into them haha. im a right paronoid person, and what does it do for handling?
  32. #32
your tyres will feel hard (jew to having no flex in the tyre walls) and your may under steer alittle even at low speeds in the wet not so bad in the dry tho
  33. #33
but they will look sweeeet. so just so i get it right its 9'' total width of the wheel. lip to lip? is 15'' the right size or shall i go for 14''s? opinions......
  34. #34
upto you on wheel size..... 14 or 15's

    yes 9 is wheel width...
  35. #35
what do you think looks best, i dont know anything on this subject so really need people to tell me haha.
  36. #36
any speed humps where u live????
  37. #37
No not really, now hears a question, what colour shall i do them im thinking i want the centre colour coded or black with a white rim?
  38. #38
i'd go 14' for the euro look, smaller wheels, the lower u will hav to go to pull them off
