APEX Spring question?

1. #1
Hello fellow saxo owners .

Just a quicky, ive read all the suspension guides and forums done all my research and decided im lowering my VTR 98 with APEX springs for a slightly firmer ride .

i want my VTR to be lowered 40mm all round but the APEX springs available are 35mm or 50mm. Which one should i purchase? im asking because i read that they are approx figures so im wondering which spring will get me closer to 40mm. If i choose the 35mm kit is the car going to end up slighly lower than 35mm or higher? if the final result is going to end up more like 30mm then im thinking of going for the 50mm spring... urmmmmmm

im keeping the standard suspension as its in excellent condition so didnt really want to go lower than 40mm on them so hence my decision.

Any advice would be cool, 35's or 50's? cheers guys

hello pozy,

If you want 40mm I'd suggest buying something more suited like spax 40mm or koni (think they're 40mm). The 35mm would obviously be closer, and at the end of the day, it's only 5mm

35mm is aproximate, depending on how much weight is in your car.. id go for 35mm for slightly better ride comfort.. or just get the spax kit of potn for £188 which drops 40mm (What im getting )

hey super quick response guys nice one, You both say SPAX springs yet in the guides on this site it says that they are quite a stiff ride, i was after somthing a bit firmer than what ive got but i do hear good things about SPAX. In what way is the spax more suited to me adsayer?

just from a ride height perspective dude, that's all

see now im thinking of getting SPAX... damn it lol now i got to think again.
APEX/SPAX APEX/SPAX urmmm.... I think ill go with my first plan and get APEX.

Ill eat a few more roast dinners and that should give me my 40mm on the 35mm springs lol.
Unless anyone has a reason why i shouldnt (The springs that is not the dinners)

cheers guys

heres my 99 vtr lowered 35 front 40 rear to get an idea what it looks like. (2nd pic is before and after lowering)
tbh i'd get 50mm as u can notice the 35mm drop, im just getting into the 'slammed' look now

I would go for the Apex 50mm Sport Suspension Kit. That's what I did, was only gonna go 35-40 myself and so glad I went 50mm....now wish it was more like 60mm LOL

i have been thinking that rosco27, my mind tells me i should go 40mm but my eyes are telling me 50mm. ive looked at so many pictures of the saxo lowered 40mm and im thinking is not quite enough with the 14" standard rims.

is yours lowered on standard shox rosco27? i guess not if you bought the apex kit. I cant afford new shox at the mo so im stuck wondering if my std shocks will be okay when lowered 50mm.

i think so too saxokid100 and id be very happy with that, but then i see a pick of my car lowered 50mm and it just looks a bit tidyer imo. But then theres ride quality to consider as i do allot of miles. urmmmm

thanks for all your advice guys, i think im going to lower 40mm all round on the standard shox, probally with Spax springs now cuz everyone ive spoken to on saxperience is happy with them. If anyone disgree's come forward now or forever hold your peace lol. As much as i want to go lower i need to face facts that i live in Devon!! the thousands of bumpy country roads round here can be hellish and i do allot of miles. i dont want to compromise to much ride quality for looks so i think ill stay in the 40mm comfort zone for now maybe try some 15" rims and go from there.

Thanks Guys once again you have been very helpfull
