nearing the end of my tether now and wondering what to do!
i'm down 50mm with no problems on standard vtr wheels and 185/55/14 tyres
tyre options/prices in that profile are rubbish though. 195/50/15 is far better
15inch wheels are an ideal compromise of looks and performance, plus you can get toyo t1rs for under £30
so i bought some really clean 15inch oz superturismos with 4 new tyres (195/50/15). they're the wrong offset (et25 instead of saxo et15-18) but 4x108 and they mate up with the hub face perfectly
the tyres rub the rear arches though. particularly over big bumps. plus they rub on full lock
tried some 5mm spacers so the alloy still had a bit of hub lip left to sit on, but they still rub
tried some 10mm spacers which used the entire hub lip, so the alloy was just resting on the wheel bolts. but they still rub
bought 4 20mm hubcentric spacers for £30 and they sit on the hub perfectly. but the outer diameter of the hub lip belonging to the spacer itself, is too big to fit inside the middle of the alloy. so they're useless
i want to leave the car height as it is
i don't want to try lower profile tyres as they're more expensive and can't really see it making a difference. seems to be more a problem with the width/offset than tyre thickness
don't want to buy more hubcentric spacers as i'd need 4 ideally and they're about £100 per pair
thought about getting some vts wheels but the superTs just look so good and they're near mint
what do you reckon i should do?
