Fuel Return Line

  1. #1
Im going to be doing a 16v conversion to my vtr and and understand that the engine would run better if i fitted a fuel return pipe! I have searched around and they are on about plumbing the return into the tank? Would i not be able to just by a VTS fuel pump and run a pipe from the fuel rail to the pump? Or am i completely of the ball here lol

    Thanks for any help

Yeh the return line plumbs back into the fuel pump. It has an inlet and an outlet. The vtr has the 'return line' on the tank as is the fuel pressure regulator. If you drop the tank, you'll see the piping arrangement.

Ibought all the pipes from the fuel tank to the engine off a written off Vts, Kent I just had to remove my fuel lines and fit these.

Ok so it will be a tank out jobey! Is that it though if i by all the fuel lines off a vts once fitted they will be a direct fit to give me my return? Dont wanna mess this bit up lol

Yeh, the hoses are all moulded to match the countours and routing. You'll see the majority of the lines are the same shape but with 2 instead of 1 as they run along the car.

At the tank the fuel filter sits in the routing from tank to engine.

I do advise this to be done, but i still havent got round to doing mine yet and it runs perfectly fine. My mate has a VTS and its runs no different to his.
Although ive noticed it sometimes drops its revs when you dip the clutch, but it sorts it self out no probs

mk1 black top vtrs have return pipe and pressure rugulator, early silvertop mk1 dont they have a valve on fuel pump to keep right pressure so no return needed, dont know about mk2s not had one yet
