Engine Noise!!

   my engine when im driving makes this weird whining noise but its nt when only declerate!! mainly in 3rd n 4th gear and when i slow lower than 15mph it stops and never makes the noise when accelerating!?!?! any ideas

   this is the 5th post ive seen in the last few days explaining the same thing, mine does the exact same thing, can someone please clear this up for us.

   Either auxillary belt side of things or the cam belt tensioners

   sounds like a gearbox problem you could try toppin up on gearbox oil if its low then maybe thats causing the whining noise....other than that its usually summin worse than that like gear synchros......

   this doesnt hapen when the clutch is down so wouldnt think it would be that, go to be something with the gearbox.

   thats if the noise is comin from the gearbox side of the engine mind.....

   so the noise is only there when the clutch isnt pressed down and goes when you press the clutch to select gear?....sounds like the thrust bearing then these are common for goin before the clutch itself...

    I've had this problem for a few weeks now so my mate whose a mechanic is going to have a look at it for me when he changes my cam belt and fits my new cams in the next 2 weeks so hopefully he will be able to sort it and then I will get back to you all regarding this and try and clear it up as I no there's a few people on here with the same problem.

    could be the crank pulley, common problem
    best to check it out could be expensive if it breaks

    When i drive at higher revs my engine becomes louder than my piper cat back in-car but not out of the car...if you understand...is this normal? Or is this the kind of whine your on about?

    its french... when my car makes a new noise, i add more volume.
    i jus tell people my whine is the super charger lulz.

    secret super charger maybe lol. na its a pulley, happend tp mine, changed the belt and pulley and its sorted it. hope this helps.
