full system

    hello

just a few questions about exhausts

first off, whats a de-cat pipe? i asume its removing the catolitic converter, if so what does that do? will it make it louder?

and iv got a back box on my vtr and the standard down pipe is blowing should i go all the way and get a full system put on? manifold etc. will that benefit the bhp, or just make it louder?

and whilst im on a roll, where can u get a saxo lowered from and how mush would it cost? my car looks like a 4 wheel drive and needs to sit at least 60mm lower ( got 15's on it at the mo)

    thanks people

Well first off - you could use the Search button, as you may guess - these topics have been covered a lot.

But since I'm a nice boy.....

Removing the cat (de-cat) allows the exhaust gases to exit the car quicker, thus literally letting your engine "breathe" a bit better

Yes it will make your exhaust louder, but only if you really thrash it.

Secondly, yes I'd recommend getting a full system, especially if you need to fix the standard one anyway..!

This will be benificiary to the performance, but not a great deal! The thing you'll notice most is a better throttle response. And yes - this will make the car louder, but Magnex boxes are a nice deep sounding rumble...so you could look into one of these.

You can get a Saxo lowered at any garage that is willing to...phone around and ask!

But make sure they have the facilities to do the torsion bar on the rear, as a lot of garage won't touch them (a torsion bar is the part of the back suspension that is physically adjusted to raise or lower the rearend)

Normal cost for a full suspension kit is £200ish, and to fit it and lower the torsion bar - would be another £150ish, depending on where you take it really.

This is only a rough guide, so don't take my word as gospel

    glad to help mate

Im not the most knowledgable person on here - but when things are asked often enough, you start to learn!

Anything else you wana know - post it up and someone will help!

Yeah dito on what joe has said really, another option for lowering is just springs which are generally £45-50 and then fitting them and doing the torsion will be anything from £80-120 ish.

if i just get the springs done will the ride be very stiff? or is that the best thing to have for handling?

for best handling 40m drop is advised squire! 60m looks sweet tho!
