Hi, I've got a 1.1 saxo and am getting a new back box. I've found a Sportex one for around £100 and was just wndering are these any good? Ideally I wanted a loud back box but not too over the top

#4it looks alright that
-
#5Yeah
My mates all have savage and big jap cans but I'm not too keen on them personally
-
#6big and chavvy is a no no! they look daft imo. i got a supersprint. similar to that one
-
#7Especially on a 1.1! They look really stupid! I've heard about them, supposed to be quite mint!
-
#8i got a rage one ( it came with the car) it is a bit too loud lol but lack of funds stop me from changing
-
#9I know what you mean! I'm supposed to be going to spain for a few months in september but I just want to modify the car atm
I like loud exhausts but not overly big, especially as my car's a 1.1 -
#10Yeah mate av got one, get the 3" one. Very nice back box.
did you know They do a centre section for £49 yano?
And i got mine for less than the one in the link, form online autosport. -
#11Without getting an after market centre section a sportex back box isnt going to be that loud at all mate. But yeah, iv got a sportex back box with a race tube centre section. love it tbh.

#12look into Ashley

that will fit yours
I love mine -
#13how loud is this?
-
#14Thanks for that
I'll have to look into getting a centre section aswell then i suppose!
Think this is the way forward though! Not keen on going down the route of a savage or big jap box
-
#15WRONG: i dont have the centre section, and i only have a 3" not 4", and mine sounds nice and deep and gurgles.
-
#16Kenco - thanks for that m8 i'll look into it
Have you got the centre section or just the back box?
-
#17Me? i have jsut the backbox at the minute mate, getting centre section when i get round to it lol
-
#18Oh cool it should sound pretty good then? Think the 3" one's more to my taste, would the 4" one be louder I take it?
-
#19yeah bit louder, looks a bit bigger, bit more expensive. 3" is a good size
-
#21I bought a sportex back box for my clio I used to have, it was on the car for a week before I took it off. Thought it would sound better than the 3" universal one with adaption pipe I had, it sounded worse! Cheaply made, and a bad fit. I just bought a janspeed one for the saxo, only a bit more expensive but a huge difference in quality! Bolted on with no fiddling, very tidy welding and a smooth sound with a small rasp, spot on!
-
#22lol i found mine very easy to fit, so i dont know why you wouldnt? are you not a very mechanical/DIY kinda person?Quote:I bought a sportex back box for my clio I used to have, it was on the car for a week before I took it off. #24I'm a qualified mechanic shagQuote:lol i found mine very easy to fit, so i dont know why you wouldnt? are you not a very mechanical/DIY kinda person?
Obviously the saxo box is different from the one I had for the clio but I can assure you it was poor quality. Untidy welds, and very bad fitment. The note it made was more of a drone, just a boring mono-tone noise. Hung almost 2 inches from the rear bumper with the bracket in the standard position. So you can understand why I wouldn't recommend one to anyone.
-
#25I had a 4" sportex on my vtr, bought it second hand for 30 quid, it was ridiculously loud when i went over 50 mph, so took it back off after a week and sold it on ebay for 70 quid ... jackpot! But would not reccomend them, especially not the 4"!!!

#26Lol i new you where gonna say you where a mechanic. Well i found mine easy to fit with no probs, and i like the noiseQuote:I'm a qualified mechanic shag
