as above...some say 45...some say 50? enlighten me
debate: 45 profile or 50 on vts wheels?
-
#1
-
#245 of course, standard tyre size
-
#345 on all 15" wheels IMO, more rubber on the road, stronger sidewall, and better feel
-
#445's definitely, why would you go for 50?
i remember going from my VTR rims (185/55) to 15" ones (195/45) and i've got to say i really could tell quite a difference between the two in terms of grip and how confident the car felt in corners -
#5195/45x15 for road use.
track tyres like r888 only come in 50 so that should be the only reason for using them. -
#7i think you can get away with 50 tyres as long as your not too low.more likely to rub.
50 are cheaper in therory than 45.
rolling radius is larger in 50 meaning slightly poorer acceleration, but better top speed.
50 will flex more during cornering.
imo goodyear f1 is a great tyre in all conditions. -
#8195/45/15 is the correct tyre size. A 50 profile will alter your rolling radius / circumference, knocking your speedo out of sync.
-
#945 would be a more ideal size, however some poeple go for 50 due to the availability of tyres in that size. 50 profile is also cheaper. But dosent look as good.

#10I was told by a tyre place that having a 50 profile on a 15" rim will rub the saxo arches
.
Makes no sense to me, i can see loadsa room.
