well fitted cams not las weeknd but weekend gone but timing was a mile out and thrust bearing decided to go during the week, so new clutch and bearin went in sat then the new bearin smashed sunda before i could set tappets and timin, sikkkkkkkkkkk so jus blasted a new bearing in tonight on me own in less then 3 hours and set tappets and timed up and am uttelry thrilled with the results, cant wait to get it remapped now as the real benefit will be seen then speshially from the inlet, how many others hav a fitted t ph3 to their vtr?
so happy with cams!!

#2I will be looking to Cam it after ive got manifold, Sports Cat or Decat. and a inlet manifold
-
#3Sold my modified head with cam before I fitted it, gutted
-
#4highly reccomend m8, i wanna go 4 a drive now, the ten mins i had to take her out was amazing, felt really really fast as i had to drive it for nearly a week with the timing seriously retarded because i never had time to adjust, cant wait to get a map done, mite be going boosted in a few weeks aswell, may be able to get my hands on a kit and ecu to run about 6psi, not going to bother with more as i have a heavy foot and wont be goin forged internals yet
-
#5Have you got a progress thread mate? or pics?
-
#6did you get teh s1 inlet on alright in the end?
-
#7sorrym8 no progress thread but i plan on making 1, wish id started when i first got car as i new abou the site before hand but only signed up when i got my vtr, and steve yes i got it sorted, clocked what it was strate away, theres one sensor on the tb tht doesnt get used in the conversion, i beleive it must be an auto choke? sits above the tb inlet? well that has two oulets from it, didn realise this at the time but one of them had been snapped off, id blanked the other anyway but it was drawing in air from the other as it has been snapped off flush with the tb, jus cant wait to get my ecu remapped tbh car is much quicker mid range but i can just tell there is so much more potential not being harnessed,
-
#8hmmm sounds very interesting
i would like to see the final results mate, so make sure you get them posted as im doing a similar set up to this lol
ill be running s1 rallye inlet, head, ecu, fuel rail, basically rallye top end, then ph2 cam (same as ph3 pretty much, but its for rallye head as ph3 is for a saxo) and remap
sooo i should be getting a similar result to you
whens your remap then dude? -
#9i had my cam fitted not last weekend but the week before and if sounds and feels awesome

raced a vtr/s conversion (standard engine other than decat, exhaust and induction) the other night and pulled away from it aswell
fun fun fun
just needs the map to finish it off -
#10how does it run without the map ???
-
#11lumpy idle but pulls okish, pulls better than before
-
#12Are you going to get it RR'd after the map?
-
#13I have a VTR now and its standard apart from a piper cat back.
Its a 02 plate mk2...
I want to get it cammed do i have to get a manifold first? And is the only way to get a de-cat on the mk2 to get a manifold?
Is it alot quicker with the uprated cam?
What BHP are you looking at? With manifold, de-cat, cat back, cam and re-map...about? -
#14you dont have to get manifold first but it is highly recomended as you will get alot better results, and yes this is the only other way mate as your cat is in the manifoldQuote:I have a VTR now and its standard apart from a piper cat back.

erm it will be alot quicker too, def worth while, but alot of others will say just to go 16v as it will make similar results to that
but its hard to put what power it will make cause theres alot of things to take into account, but with all that you could see 120bhp maybe
but another thing you want to look at is a shorter ratio box, as this will give you better acceleration so it will compliment the cam nicely as the vtr box is just sooo long lol
hope this helps mate1 user thanked this post: -
#15Cheers chris helps alot...
Im in two minds at the moment, im putting a claim in from when a woman pulled out on me in my first saxo for £4,000 dont know weather to buy a new car or make my VTR nicccccccccccce....
Cant insure a S anyway.. -
#16mines going mint, idle is spot on too(guessing this is because i have the rallye inlet), lumpy a bit when its cold though , could easily remedy this by adjusting idle screw on your tb, remap will be in a few weeks jus saving the money up now, will defo post the results when its all sorted, cant wait to see what bhp figures im runnin, as said its much better but i know the remap will greatly improve it
-
#17blackie, were are u gettin ur map done, chipwizards?
will be good to compare the results -
#18yer personally i would spend it on the saxo, i would probably go towards throttle bodies with that, but thats just me lolQuote:Cheers chris helps alot...

you do what you feel wouldbe better, but to be fair if your young like meeee lol and insurance is dear on the vts then insurance on most other decent specd cars would be dear too, so could be better to stick with your saxo and just modify it till your happy then save the rest -
#19am i right in assuming you cant put an S1 inlet on a Silvertop (98bhp) VTR?
if so - what other options are there, apart from TB's? -
#20no you cant as the port spacing is different
theres not alot else you could do really
although what you could do is, get hold of a 90bhp head and then use s1 inlet, im sure some others have done this -
#21iirc WIDE_TURBO_VTR was getting a larger inlet manifold made up for his car as he couldnt fit the s1 inlet to his car. might be worth dropping him a pm and asking
-
#22When you've got it mapped and RR'd could you post up your figures. Would be interesting to see what your putting out with your setup.
-
#23will do
-
#24what cams are you guys using i have a saxo vtr on 99 plate
-
#25i cant wait till myn ready to be cammed, hope its woth it
-
#26im ordering my cams tomorow and getting them fitted next week as well as the cam belt changed and the head skimmed.
cant wait expecially after reading this thread lol. -
#27laurence i havent decided on whether or not to use chipwizards or not? i know theyre the best but the price is high, do you know exactly howe much a chipwizards map is? was going to at first but im only keeping the vtr till oct when my ins runs out, i will then be 21 and have lost 3 of my points and so beable to get an s and mod that, was thinking of just getting a local tuner to do it for cheaper as the results cant be that much better can they? looking for some feedback, and to all looking to cam id say its definatley worth it,
-
#28gunna get it mapped thn ?
-
#29i wish i was happy with mine when it had the cams put in. 136.5 for a cammed vts is shit
-
#30i would recommened BHP tuning in leeds. its about £450 quid for a live map where they alter every separate cell in your ecu.
-
#31cheers for that m8, i have you got a number for them, ive found alocal lad whos wantin 300 but im not sure if i trust them? also is your valve timing corect to get a figure like that?
-
#32If anyone wants a S1 inlet I have one.
-
#33pm rob-c m8 hes jus pm'd me to see if i was selling my spare
