bought my car about 4 months ago, its going in for a full serice next thursday so i will be happy that the car is sound, and i came accross a nice little guide on how to change the cam belt and fit a new head gasket.

there are a few head gasket set's & bolts on ebay for around £20 and a new cam belt for about £30. my car has 76k on the clock and i realy dont want to pay the money for a garage to change these two parts.

    should i do this?

you wont feel a power difference no, but your engine is not far from due a cam belt change, so if its not bean done all ready then yes do it, as far as i am concerned there's no need to change the hear gasket until you loose compression or blow the gasket

if its not already been done recently, your engine is well due a cambelt change... the head gaskets should last the life of the car, but in cases, that obviously doesnt happen but if you feel confident in doing it, its not that big of a job... pointless and a waste of a day if its not needing to be changed though. it wont make any differnence in power / performance etc .

well im going to change the cam belt deffo because i do not know the history of the car, as for the head gasket you guys are right seems a pointless big job for nothing.
