Vts fuel return

Do they actually return much fuel?

Would it be worthwhile plumbing ina return line? Or Can i get away with it willy dribbling onto the road? Will i actually loose a noticeable amount of fuel?

Also can i block the return line? Will this flood the engine or something?

    cheers

legally, you can't have fuel just vented out of the car dude (even if it's a vapour vent). They tend to return most fuel when you pull your foot off the throttle.

if its there then connect it when it comes to fuel. you would lose probably half the tank if not more if your in town conditions. get it plumbed in correct!

People block them and they seem to run fine.

IMO when you've already gone to all the effort changing engines, you may as well make sure it's right!

Drop the tank, take the passengers front seat out, lift the carpet and you're ready to plumb it in.

Worth noting some vtr's already have them plumbed in.

I'd always plumb in a return line.

on my vtr engine there was 2 lines coming from the bulkhead, one with a green tip and won with a white tip. im guessing one of those was the return line and the other was delivery? when the fuel pump de-prime's you can see the pipe being put under pressure. since it work on mine, im guessin thats how you do it.

People only block them on cars that have an FPR next to the fuel pump, in which case there is already a return line.

Im not convinced on blocking the return, so yeh sounds like i have to put the return line in.

Thats funny, my MGB has its fuel overflow pointed at the road then again its apparently meant to have a fog light but clearly never has in its lifetime.

Mines blocked. Works fine. Good on fuel too.
