TOO much air?

    as the tittle says, is it possible to suck too much air in to the engine? basically i had a really crappy looking induction kit fitted to my vtr, it was just a K&N cone with a short 90degree curved ally induction pipe, i fianaly deciced to do somthing about it and made an induction pipe at work (not the home made toilet roll and tube one lol), its alot longer in length than the other one as the cone now sits just to the left of the power steering tank, whereas the old one sat snug at the end of the rocker cover, but now my car drives like crap, it feels like im driving with the standard air box on, so could it be that im now sending too much air into the engine?

    you cant really get to much air in, due to the way the throttle body/valves are designed theres only a certain amount they can flow.

    the more air the better check my thread on having an unduction kit from a 200sx on a 1.1 ... just going to drink a lil more fuel!

    is it not just a bit quieter making it feel slower?

    Its psycological. Induction kits make sod all difference without other breather mods to compliment

    i agree yeah its in ya head pal. just forget about it or buy a green !

    the engine will only suck as much air as it needs with n/a setups
    all induction kits do is free up the flow into the engine

    the longerpipe may slow the flow if its too small but tbh its usually not a hufe difference
    especially on an otherwise standard engine

    Longer induction pipe will reduce top end and increase bottom end. Having the filter mounted approx 200mm from the butterfly is how it is as standrd.

    Depending on your orientation of the filter the flow of cool air could be inhibited by it's new location and as a result sucking in hot air or sucking in air behind it. Either way not good. At least with original position the air was mixed up much better and flowing directly into it
