replacing/fitting injectors

  1. #1
    hi all,

Ok seems straight forward apart from the decompression of the fuel line. Apparently I need to lower the fuel tank to depressurise the fuel line

    Can anyone confirm this?

    Is there a guide?

anyone want to do a guide?

    Cheers

To replace them, you need to remove the top part of the inlet manifold.

It has 3 bolts on the top, and 2 bolts upside down on the back. Then remove the throttle body, accelerator cable, 3 pipes (fuel breather, brake vacuum, and FPR vacuum) and it'll come straight off.

Then you'll see the fuel rail. I'd put a big rag around the fuel line ends, and pull them of. Then let the fuel evaporate for 15mins or so (not necessary tbh) and then unclip the injecotrs and replace them.

Should take an hour or so if going carefully.

lol, suppose there's no point making a mountain out of a molehill!

Might want to let most of it to evaporate before satring it up. Also worth turnign the key to the 2nd position and listen to the fuel pump pressurise the system. Any leaks should be evident at this stage.

Much safer to depressurise at filter as then there's not petrol all over the inlet and back of engine & wiring, as the filter is basically the lowest part of the car.

And the injectors need a little oil on the seals to go back on. When i first started messing with them i had fun getting the rail back on, got the knack eventually after 5 or 6 times

with the car running, pull the plug of the fuel pump and wait for the car to die. Thats how I depressurize the system before I do any work with the fuel line
