Wheel spin in 2nd gear?

  1. #1
Does anyone get wheel spin sometimes when you change up from around 5k+ from 1st? (i don't always do this, 3k ftw lol )
Or is it just me with crap tyres they are 14cm wide and i think im getting slight wheel spin because of crap traction... Tyres have plenty of thread and the road is dry.
    EDIT: 1.0, 50hp...
I don't thrash my saxo everywhere, this just happens when im abit peed off

    Thanks

    Mine spins on the grass

Probably because the car is still very high in the rev range when you get it in to gear, come off the revs earlier and youll be ok.

Are you sure it's wheel spin rather than clutch squeel?

    Mine skids in neutral.

my 205 could spin 4th on the shite tyres when i bought it lol
  13. #13
omfg do 1.0s really only have 50bhp.

Thats atrocious, i couldnt live with that.
  14. #14
It's probably to do with how high in the rev range you are and how harsh you release the clutch.
  15. #15
What tyres are you using? Dotn forget the roads are covered in salt, mud, bits of leaves and greasey water at this time of year
  16. #16
i used to do it on a my 1st two cars. but i stopped doing it as the driveshafts kept fucking up.
  17. #17
Shouldnt spin in 2nd really. It might if the road conditions arent great, or if your on budget tyres, or reving to high and dropping the clutch when your changing.

In a cammed VTS on Eagle F1s, i rarely ever lose traction in a straight line in 2nd gear, even in the wet.

Shouldnt be happening in a 1.0 without erratic driving and poor clutch skills.

Your gearbox will not last long...

Thanks again for the replys, i think it will be releasing the clutch too early and too vigorous
Almost every tyre is from a different company, but all the same size lol

Guy at local meet i go to spins in every gear.. completely standard looking corsa b + 2.1 redtop + turbo = for the lulz
  24. #24
I spin my back wheels anything over half throttle off the line, jumps about liek a bastard when i let the clutch out in second, and if the tyres are colder gets slgiht spin in thrid. And thats on four good eagle f1 GSD3's

If its greasy i fish tail no matter what gear it is over cerain revs LOL

    Matt.

dont put ya foot down and it wont do it,
  26. #26
think you can spin most things in second if you do it right, the idea though is to try and not wheelspin in a race.

u can make a cav sri do the box on the spot without the handbrake if ya play wit it a bit lol
