do i need shocks or just springs

   im just on ebay now looking for 40mm springs , do i have to buy shocks or can i just get the springs , i have mk1 vtr ?

   You don't HAVE to get shocks, but when lowering any car it is recommended. Expect your standard shocks to wear out abit faster

   will it be ok for 3 months or so till i get funds to get gas shocks and use the springs with them when i get them

   Yes it'll be fine. Loads of people don't bother changing the shocks if going down 40mm.

   You only realy need uprated shocks if u go 60mm or lower but it looks crap that low any way 40 mm will be fine

   Will the lowered shocks improve the handling though, or is it just they dont wear out as fast?

   lowering 40mm on standerd shocks will improve handling!
