Lowering on just springs

  1. #1
Rite...again i have had a good look around and nothing has really answered my question. I want to go lower by 40mm but keep gettin mixed views on this. If i jus get springs will it kill my shocks eventually...?? I am thinking APEX springs. Can u please give me ur good experiences with these, AND ur bad experiences with them. Also what wud ppl recommend and y?

    Cheers guys!

hey dude iv been asking the same questions and the response i got was dont go no lower than 40 mm without getting a kit, but other than that 40 mm would be fine without havin to blow £££££ on damping and shit, im goin for 40mm front 50 rear as its torsion bar

35-40mm seems to be the limit on standards before you need uprated dampers

another thing if ur just gonna grim it and stick lower than 40 on the hose fro powersteeering rubs apparently but all you have to do for that is cable tie it out the way " correct me if im wrong people?"

Im down 55mm at the front(puma springs) an 70mm at the back an ive had no problems up to yet..

I've been down 60mm on standard dampers for almost a year and its been fine. Just got some uprated dampers in, and the standard ones still didnt seem to be leaking either. Definately a big improvement with uprated ones though.

standard tolerances are within 35-40mm, if you go lower than that then it goes outwith the manufacturers limits, it doesnt break them as such, it just means that they wear down faster, and are more likely to fail

my car is lowered 40mm on the front with standerd shocks and 60mm at the back and is fine.. drives really well

im lowered 35mm with standard shocks its fine for the looks and day to day driving but i would recommend getting the dampers if you flick into the corners violently and get lead foot, mines perfect no problems whatsoever,

has got rid of some bodyroll to a degree but the dampers dont rebound quick enough for really responsive streering.

great if you just want it for day to day but be warned to feel every bunmp in the road aswell mate!

Im down 50mm on springs at the front and iv gone through 2 standard struts, as soon as i can afford it Im going to buy some uprated struts.. Springs will be fine but I would recommend getting some uprated struts sometime in the future.

im down 35 on the front with eibach springs. handles fine. shouldnt wear that fast as long as its not more than 40

like said above if you have decent standard dampers (not to many miles on them) should be fine at 40mm go for it

    also wrong section lol
