will the 16v head match up 2 the vtr bottom end, are they the same block.
vtr/vts

#2in short, no
-
#3wats the differences in blocks
-
#4Same basic block, but......
Lots of little fiddley bits to swop.
Different pistons, different pulleys for cams, manifolds, ecu's, wiring, oil cooler etc.....
Buy either a whole vts set-up and swop or just buy a Vts. -
#5i gt both engines, outa cars on my drive, only vts shells are f****d, and head gasket on r gone, hence the question
-
#6well if youve got the vts engine and it works, why not just do a conversionQuote:i gt both engines, outa cars on my drive, only vts shells are f****d, and head gasket on r gone, hence the question
the 16v head will not fit on vtr bottom, the headbolts dont line up
or if you cant do that, why not sell the vts and just get headgasket sorted on vtr, if you get it done by garage your looking at 300quid as a mate just got a quoted that fromhis local, well it would def be around 250 to get headgasket sorted -
#7vts engine bottom end was knocking before it was taken out, shells gone, so it not ok,
i have a full workin vts and r so was just playin wid the idea to fix one engine outa the 2 to have a full workin spare, Head gasket around 40 quid, head skim around 40 to 90 if you do job self its not that much mate, cheers anyways -

ahh i get you
headskim 40-90 thats a bit steep lol, i just got my rallye head rebuilt for 55 quid, well skim, new valves and valve stems fitted, and seats ground down and cleaned and sprayed for 55quid. i think if your paying more than say 35quid for skim your being ripped off
but yer if you do it by yourself you could probs do the headgasket plus other bits like cambelt etc for about 100quid imo, but my mate doesnt know how to do this so he has to go to garage plus his dad is a nooob and wont let him get it done by anyone else haha -
#9soz that price was including porting and polishin, a basic skim aint that much, altho there are people charging that out there. stripped the vtr lump down now, strippin down vts lump nxt, if they dnt match will prob rebuild both, new gaskets timing belts and shells for the s then sell them on, got all wiring and ecu and ignition barrels, wait and see i guess,
-
#10well it may not be a very good port and polish, as far as i know this is quite expensive for that mate, i was on phone to qep yesterday to ask about price and what i will get and it was 550 plus vat for full headwork, so im assuming just a port and polish done properly would still cost a good couple of hundred, but some on correct me if im wrong
oh and you will end up rebuilding both mate, cause trust me the head wont fit on vtr bottom, the bolts dont line up, plus theres alot of other things that would need changing, i dont know exactly what, but someone asked a coulpe of weeks back -
#11had full head rebuild on my vts, cams port and polish, springs followers and lifters, plus cam belt all in £1250, £87.85 for the skim port and polish,
-
#12ahhh right ok then, my bad lol
i just thought it cost alot more than that, thats all -
#13thats just the price i got mate, may be more else where.
-
#14yer everywhere is diff realy, just like how a headskim from where i went to was 20quid, but a place round the corner was 35quid, and im not joking its like a 3min walk round the corner lol haha
