oil in spark plugs

  1. #1
    changed plugs today on vts and when i took the coil pack off there was a small pool of oil the holes with the spark plugs

    it definately hasnt come up through the cylinders as the car has run fine and never smoked either

    so it must have got in through the top

    recently had a small rocker leak but i cant see how it would get in from that as the coil pack has seals wich seal the holes for the spark plugs

    anyone shed any light?

    I get this from time to time. What oil are you using? It could be dripping very slightly from the cam ladder seals or the cam cover seals. Nothing really to worry about, as the tips of the plugs sit in the combustion chamber, and won't see any of that oil.

    using castrol gtx 10w-40

    wasnt much oil at all tried soaking up what i could before removing the old plugs but the rest went into cylinders and just burnt when i took the car for a run, only took 2 mins for it to stop smoking which suggested there wasnt much there

    Put some decent oil in!

    OK, doesn't sound too bad. I find there's just a little at the bottom everytime I change the plugs. I just twist some tissue in there and soak it up.

    I had this about a month ago, rocker gasket, cam seals and oil filter went. Might be worth getting checked over just in case.

    Lol, oil filter?!

    Sounds like can covers leaking a bit, and oil is seeping onto the spark plugs.

    A fully synthetic, particularly an ester based oil. There's loads out there. Millers, Silkolene, Motul, Shell Helix Ultra, to name but a few.
