Saxo keeps slipping out of reverse + ???

  1. #1
Just got a saxo 1.6 VTR last weekend, but just took it out a little while ago
to check it over a bit and sometimes it wont go into 1st and 2nd , and it
will always clunk and come out of reverse gear , even when holding it
    back in place hard.

Anyone got any ideas , Would it just be linkage or worse?

    cheers guys

when that happened to me it was my linkage, the reverse completly went which i was fine with but then a few hours later the whole of the gears went lol, it didnt cost much to get replaced

the clunking for reverse is natural from what i hear!

check linkages, and also gearbox mount is on correct way, failing that it could be more seriouos, ie gearbox or simple like selector rod.

my saxo has the same problem in reverse, is it the gear selector? or something?

How many small linkages does a 97 1.6 saxo have as i have 2 on mine
but theres another nipple with nothing on which i would presume another
linkage must connect to but we cant see anywhere for anotherone to
connect to besides that and in the haynes manual for saxos 96-01 it only
    shows 2

    Any suggestions ?

Also are gearbox linkages for saxos a complete specialist part or can you
buy aftermarket ones or ones down eg a garage that doesnt stock all
    saxo parts
