Federal tyres any good?

  1. #1
as above, anyone heard/used federal tyres before, looking around as one of my rears have gone shite
  2. #2
    I have them

There not bad, although they were cheap.

I wouldn't take them on track.
  3. #3
I didn't like them, mine only last 6000 due to tracking issues but even then they only had 3.5mm left so wore down fast.

Crap in wet and dry - just wheel spun.

I'm currently using Michelins, expensive but so much better.

just use blackcircles or a similar site mate, you can get decent tyres fitted very cheaply anyway on there, I wouldn't bother going for cheap tyres.

I had federals on my saxo, i really liked them They were good in the wet and great in the dry although they did wear down pretty quickly
  6. #6
guess ill stop being a cheapo and get something better, although will it not wear down as much as its on the rear?
  7. #7
On the rear they'll last for ages.

Didn't help me as I'm riding round on 17s so smaller profile, therefore don't last as long.

so if i only need one on the rear for a car which is never going on the track, which i dont want wearing out too quick or too make handling any difference in the wet, i mayaswell jus get them shall i?

People rave about Toyo Proxies, I personally have Dunlop SP sport Fast Reponse (c. £55 ea) which scored expectionally well in ratings. The Dunlops are by far the greatest tyre I have ever bought. Stick like shit to a blanket even in the wet

even more reason to get decent tyres, if they are going to last for ages, might as well get some that are going to give you maximum grip. They could save your life.

Federals are budget tyres. Not as good as some other budget tyres out there.
where abouts in London are you? I work for Rtec in St Albans, herts and we try to be the best around on tyre prices. Even price match, so let us know.
