Event : Engine power gains

    Hi

I've put Bosch quad electrode plugs into my VTS, not HUGELY faster, a bit, but much much smoother now.

Got my eye on a ram air induction kit on eBay to.

The car has a cat back stainless steel exhaust.

Any other inexpensive tried and tested mods anyone can recommend?

    Cheers

If its noticeably faster and more responsive its cus your old ones were rogered mate, single point plugs are fine on non tuned all the way upto pretty high spec engines, didnt really need the quads, but now youve got em theyll obviously do the job well

An uprated manifolds a good call. 4-2-1 for mod range power 4-1 for high end power.

Scoop induction kits some people love but ive had one and prefer the OEM setup with an uprated filter, its been prooven to be more efficient than an IT maxogen which is the top of the range ram air style system. cheaper too

Not allways the case, depends on the design of the primaries more tbh.

the plugs are what you call a placebo effect
the makers tell you all will be much better so you imagine it is once they arfe fitted
infact all you have done is get the plugs working as they should, which will give you back the power you have lost with old and degraded plugs.

multi electrode plugs dont give any more sparks, you still only get one per firing cycle, ut what you do you get is a more consistant and even spark.t
this is due to the fact that the spark will always take the closest route to ground and as the plugs wear this will alter

so you should see your performance stay the same for longer.

4-2-1 manifold mate, get one off Kam Racing, janspeed ones are around £150.

And you could port and polish teh Throttle Bodie? Either yourself or someone on here will do it for £26

    EDIT: Decat is reletively cheap...?

the cheapest best mod would be strip it out and lose as much weight off the car as you can

ye go with sparco tom you can strip the back of your saxo in minutes and put it back together in minutes and it makes a noticeable diffrence its just up to you how much you wan to kick out.

Agree with getting breathing mods on board and a good service, plus try and save some weight.

Spare wheel + cage, tool kit, sound deadning from under boot carpet, EGR type thing (if you have it) and the weight loss from lighter uprated breathing parts all equates to roughly 25-30Kg which is the equivalent of adding 2.5-3Bhp, plus it improves MPG, handling, braking etc!
