#1
-
#2probably get a decent cat back exhaust and a de cat for that amount?
-
#3> Sportex cat back £130
> Sportex manifold £150
> Port and polish TB ( free if you do it yourself ) or around £25
> Simota induction £115
> decat - Not sure on prices
May add upto 15bhp if your lucky. Above will cost slightly over £400 though. -
#4ok cheers mate
-
#5Just out of interest is your VTR a mk2 or a mk1?
Also if you can shed some weight your car it will be a lot faster aswell.
Spare tyre, back seats, rear carpets, parcel shelf etc -
#6mk2 mate think i got a good deal with it to be honest ive had a 1.1 desire for the past 3 years and i didn wana waste money doing that up cos it was slow lol now i got a vtr i can spend abit and try and get some more power out of it
-
#7Yeah well what i posted above will gain you some. Then cams and a remap will cost around £800 ish and could add another 20bhp ish depending on a lot of factors though. Or for the same price you could get a VTS engine and drop that in
-
#8400quid will probably see you 5-10 bhp max
-
#9Tom i think what i originally posted could possibly see over 10bhp?
-
#10what should i be looking for and for how much then if i had a garage fit the exhaust etc? but if anyone wants to give me a hand doing it i wouldnt compain?
-
#11exhaust 2-3, manifold 5ish, throttle body nout, air filter 2bhp
making a rough total of 10 -
#12depending where your based i could give you a hand
-
#13if you a prepared to wait for bargains, you could probably get full exhaust, mani, induction and half decent suspension set up for £400.
-
#15im in cardiff buddy its ok ill shop around maybe see whats in the scrappys
-
#16how about this manifold i found on ebay = MANIFOLD JANSPEED EXHAUST EM580 its for 150 quid any good?
-
#17link didnt work mate.
-
#19If you dont mind swapping engines, you could get a VTS lump in there fitted for £400ish?
-
#20Yeah its a good manifold, get the same one for the same price of KAM RACING,

google it. -
#22how hard a job to change manifold then? would a garage do it cheap?
-
#23Not that hard mate, but if you havnt done it before then it can be hard. And a garage wouldnt charge too much i shouldnt think.
-
#26because its a mk2 what do i have to change around the oil filter?
-
#27could get a vts engine chucked in for not much more
or sell it and get a vts -
#29If it was as simple as just getting an engine and fitting it.Quote:Why not? Can get an engine for £200, someone on here does the conversion for £200 iirc?
You will need the loom aswell, and other bits and pieces. You would be lucky to get a good conditioned low milelage one for £200, you would be lucky if the total cost came to less than £600
And it doesnt always go without problems. -
#30Doesnt have to be low milage one lol and i have seen engines circa £200 with loom and ecu etc, and i have seen people offer to fit engines for around the £200 markQuote:If it was as simple as just getting an engine and fitting it.

There you go £400...ish -
#31Go and ask people who have had an S conversion. And ask them how much they payed, not many will be £400.
-
#32yo mate im going to get this exhaust system http://www.potn.co.uk/p1402339.htm
and hopefully a 4-2-1 manifold, that would add a few bhp correct? -
#33Yeah mate, you could gain maybe 5bhpQuote:yo mate im going to get this exhaust system http://www.potn.co.uk/p1402339.htm

and it will look/sound a lot better
have a look into sportex exhausts mate. I highly reccomend them.
-
#34if your after bhp cheap then i wouldnt bother with that exhaust to be hounest as you can get a supersprint straight through centre section for £60 and will add about the same bhp as that exhaust will.Quote:yo mate im going to get this exhaust system http://www.potn.co.uk/p1402339.htm

also don't spend loads of money on an induction kit when you can just buy a panel filter which will add about the same but only cost £40.
http://www.kamracing.co.uk/kam-racin...-6-8v-153.html
if your vtr is a 2001+ i would nt bother with a manifold as when i fitted my raceland yeah it was better top end but it seemd to loose the low rev power and the revs didnt raise as quickly.
if i was you i would get them 2 items for £100 then i would get the suspension sorted a decent set like this will cost just under £200
http://www.kamracing.co.uk/club-disc...saxo-1810.html
very good set as i had them on my saxo.
so far you have spent £300 so the other £100 to get the suspension fitted and torsion bar lowerd and away you go
if you can fit the suspension yourself sort out your brakes with the other £100 and you will have a nippy vtr that can handle well and stop well which is alot better on the road than a slightly higher bhp saxo with standard brakes and suspension.
-
#35strip it.. makes alot of difference.. then buy a 4-2-1 manifold and decat with full system.. dnt worry about getting induction kit jus buy a green air filter from kamracing about £40 includin p+p.. does same job if not beta and cheaper
-
#36also have your flywheel balanced and lightend.. can feel the difference!
