Exhaust without performance..?

  1. #1
Hey guys, just been chatting with the insurance people who advised me I could change my exhaust without any extra premium costs as long as it didn't change the performance of the car. So the question is, does anyone know a way I could have my car sounding mint without any additional performance?

    Cheers

go to powerflow *snigger* Or just get a backbox mate.

Could get a centre section that has a silencer? and a backbox?

Also if you could get an induction kit, go for pipercross foam, makes a REALLY loud roar when you accelerate hard.

how are they ever going to know its added performance? if you crash they are hardly going to put a f**ked car on the rollers and they would have anything to compare it to before fitting it so just go for the exhaust YOU actualy want

that's a fair point, but would they know just by the brand and system that it could add a bit of oomph? I'm with Quinn Direct.

surely the benefit of any aftermarket exhaust is less restriction, thus added performance....
if your insurance company has half a brain theyl realise as soon as you say "ive got a powerflow exhaust" theyl just look on the website or manufactering spec and, hey ho it says "increased bhp and powerflow".

now its true theyre not going to let you get an exhaust and test it on the rolling roads just to ensure it adds no performance... but my guess is u wont find an exhaust that wont claim to add bhp, and there will be no way to test that it doesnt.

Theyll never know m8,as long as you state that youv got a new exhaust you will be fine,at the best you will only add an extra few bhp, couldnt personally see anyone following it up.

yer but then you could argue that the engines lost power due to age annd milage so by adding the exhuast your bringin it back up to the standard when it left the factory but tbh how much power is actualy added by any exhaust? nothing realy unless its getting mapped and other performace mods added

mapping an exhaust system would do next to nothing.
