Issue: "N" mounts/gear linkages

  1. #1
Did search beforehand but no specific topics.

Right guys most of you know I had the full set of Group N engine mounts fitted. At the same time my gear linkages were adjusted as they were a bit slack.

Yesterday while driving the car I noticed that the linkage was clunking as you went from 3rd gear to 4th gear. When I say clunking you can "feel" it through the transmission.

Im worried that either my gear linkage is working loose or even worse that the group N engine mounts are causing such harsh vibrations that other parts are working loose lol.

I know its hard to diagnose over forums and that but any ideas?
    Cheers in advance

Dont know tbh, but mine always feel like it. As though the the gearbox is proper clunky.

What gear linkages you got and have you got quickshift?

Got the Compbrake Quickshift and X Sport Gear linkages.

Gearbox is always a bit sluggish for around town driving, but the gear change clunk is really bothering me now. Car drives fine but Im worried somethings going to fall off lol.

    Hey Rushy

I am currently running group n mounts on my XSI and have also noticed the clunking into gears.

I did have an issue the other week where the gearbox bolts had become loose. So i have torqued them up and got some locktite on them.

The clunking gearchanges have seemed to have gone away now.

So just worth a quick check everything is tight and as it should be.

Hey Ste hows it going matey.

That sounds very similar. Will look into that as I feel its probably the same issue. Its like the knocking has got more gradually noticeable the more the cars driven. Cheers dude!

It was initially doing that once one of the linkages was shorted, Pug1off sorted that issue off thank god as it was well bad! But this seems to be the case of something working loose like mentioned above.

Cheers though dude, will make sure that the clearance is good while were working on it
