VTS Gearbox with Quaife Diff - Max Power

  1. #1
Anyone know how much power the VTS gearbox with a Quaife diff will take sort of reliably ish.

Basically when will it pull itself to bits; 200bhp? 250bhp? 300bhp? 350bhp?.

If its not a strong box above 200hp or if there are weak points whats a good replacement/fix?

you have far too much money ste!!!

it's torque you want to worry about really ste... and an upper rev limit to a lesser extent (higher than you need to worry about on a turbo'd engine - just the torque)

    Yeah, all about the torques...

    Stop dreaming Ste...

The limit will be dropped down from standard tbh. But just need to know what sort of power the box can handle.

250bhp / 220 torqueys to give you a proportioned idea.

Theres a few cars with that power floating about and the boxes seem to last as long as they are treated well. I.e nice and warm before abused, double clutching and no full bore 1st gear launches

seems like all the boxs ive gone through has been because of viscous 1st gear oopps lol

there isn't a limit of what the box will take as if your driving like a prat you'll kill one with standard power. lets say for example you have 250bhp at the wheels, if you launch flat out, 'kick' the clutch and generally drive aggresively it won't last 5 minutes but driven with a bit of care and you may never have an issue.

The diff is a major weak point in MA boxes with high lb of torque.

The Quaife is alot stronger and will deal with alot more power. What tends to kill boxes is idiotic driving/launches imo rather than the power, Ive known of many a high power car thats been driven right to be ok on the MA box/quaife.

I loose count of what you are planning, one day you talk about mild cams, before boost, before high spec NA et etc. lol
