35 or 50 mm lowering?

  1. #1
getting all my suspension gear from my dad for my birthday this year so need to tell him what to get, im going for the apex kit from kam and adding powerflex bushes all round, im currently pretty low and want to raise the car slightly on decent springs and shocks (standard shocks and shit springs atm) in an attempt to increase handling, but i still want it to look good.
    so, 35 or 50mm?
  2. #2
most people will say 35/40mm for handling and 60mm for looks so 50mm would be a good compromise of both
  3. #3
well if your going for shorter shocks then might aswell go for 50mm i reakon
  4. #4
will be apex full kit, so id assume the shocks are shortened to match the springs that come with them?
  5. #5
well theyre uprated so i'd imagine there shorter especially with the 50mm springs
  6. #6
ive just lifted mine from 60mm all round to 40mm
it now handles loads better and feels great
i would say 40mm mate you will feel the diffrence straight away

go as low as u can go m8!! woop will look the SEX!!

think its going to be better to get the rear end up, if i go 50mm front im gonna bring the rear up like 40mm so its slightly higher than the front. with it being arse down it proper fucks up the handling doesnt it?

50mm ftw ours is 50mm front 45mm on the rear

we can take to Adults in the back with no scrubbing and the like!!!!

dont go for the speed boat look with the rear lower than the front!!!!

mines pretty much dead level as it is, dont think its quite 80mm rear but dont know anyone with a standard vtr to compare to! i can put 3 people in the back and dont get any bodywork rubbing, just the bottom of the car hits the floor with 5 people in it lol!
  11. #11
50mm front 40 mm back would look sex will look more aggressive
  12. #12
thats what im going for i think, will fit front springs and let them settle while i drive around lookin like my rear suspension has broken for a few days! then i'll adjust the back accordingly
  13. #13
good plan mate post pics when done doing mine in the next month
  14. #14
depends if my dad lets me have my stuff before my birthday lol! if not it'll be first week of may before i get round to fitting!
  15. #15
im on the 50mm apex setup and handles great, no problems with people in the back either..
  16. #16
50mm i rekon mate. mines only a 1.1 so it doesnt compare to a VTR but my handling is alot better at 50mm than it was standard. but i supose thats obvious
  17. #17
so if im changing springs shocks and bushes what else would benefit from a change while its in bits? that isnt going to cost a fortune!
  18. #18
    40mm is ideal height
  19. #19
wouldnt mind 40/45 but cant find decent kit. decided i want lower than 35mm though defo

whats better, apex or spax? the spax have been brought up in another thread and seem very cheap, 40mm fixed or adjustable rate? or are apex better?

    cheers
