head off cam belt change etc for vtr

    Hello im going get my top half of my vtr lump redone , gaskets / cam belt / valve seals etc , could someone give me a list of parts i will need as im dropping off for the weekend to a bloke who doe'snt carry any citroen spares , so i want to make sure i have everything i need just incase .

    why dont you ask him what he needs?

    if hes a mechanic hes going to know roughly what he needs citroen or not...

    failing that go to citroen and find out the part number from them, then shop around

    you've listed some of them already.... the bloke should be able to give you a list.

    i thought i'd pick the stuff up for him as he don't really have the time as hes working all week , he done afew turbo conversions for xr2's and is very good , does this from home , as he lives in the sticks and he ain't near a spares place hence me picking up the parts , can you get everything from Halfords or should i take a trip to citroen ( halfords is close )

    p.s , do i need new bolts if the head is taken off ?

    If the head is coming off just order a head gasket and set you should have all the parts needed and yes the head bolts will come in the head set mate make sure everyting gets changed you should get injector seals to and other bits

    also get a water pump you might as well change that seen as it's all been stripped down and new cambelt and tensioner

    water pump will probaly need to see the good side of a 8lb lump hammer as they get seized on as did mine

    head gasket kit
    head bolts (iv never seen them in the head gasket kit before)
    cambelt& tensioner
    alt belt
    water pump

    should be about it...

    headbolts are stretch bolts as such and should be replaced whenever disturbed

    thats what was used on my old xr2 which was fited with rs turbo gasket and stretch bolts , should i go standard head gasket ? is there a uprated one like for the rs turbo escort ? might get the head gas flowed . cheers all
